Advice needed on Induction Kit (now where to buy it ?)

Post by darranc »

Where can i get an apexi then ? .. you have convinced me :P

Which one should i buy ?
I have a '94 turbo and need to know opinions on what you guys think would be the best induction kit to put on it.
I am planning on some mods in the coming months and i already have a HKS back box and will be de-catting it shortly.
Then a boost controller will be going on .. do you have favourites for all the above (decat - boost control etc) ?

What about if you've got an NA like me! Is it worth getting an induction kit? If so which one?

Not sure which make mate, but I know an after market air filter on an NA makes a world of difference to th noise.

Talking to a couple of the guys in portswood yesterday they suggested a K&N or Jap specialist supplied Induction Kit.

Said it wouldn't do an awful lot on the performance level, but the change in noise/tone was worth the £85 (or so) :D

I have just put a K&N on my n/a. £79 from http://www.dcdezign.com - part no 57-0091-1

It makes a good noise - espically at about the 5,000 rpm range

A lot louder in the cockpit now though - stereo has to go up louder, lots of sucking in the left ear and its not the misses ! And a lower growl on revving.

I think there is a fraction on the performance - but not a great deal

Easy/simple to fit all you need is a screwdriver and a socket set.

I gained about 5bhp after fitting a K&N to my N/A Rev3 - proven with before and after rolling road sessions (allbeit 5 months apart).

You will also notice your fuel bill increase after fitting an induction kit - just listening to the kit growl 8)

Well worth fitting one to an N/A :thumleft:

I reckon that my mpg is a little bit better - did 320 miles on £35 - mostly motorway 70-90 mph

My Apexi will be up and running on my N/A this weekend with any luck unless the girlfriend puts a stop to my mechanics fun.
