How many MK1's have you owned....?

I was just jotting down past MK1's that I owned and was trying to remember the registrations.
On final count I've owned 17 MK1's ranging from 1985 Coupe's - 1989 Supercharged tbars ( 4 x SC's ).

1 x 1991 MK2 tbar

1 x 2000 MK3 Roadster

19 MR2's in total.....

How many have you owned - is this a record....?

Mark has owned 5 (4 of them being SCs).

So we are 8 in total.

I have owned 10 in total since 2002. I currently own 5:
Tintop supercharger x2
T Bar Supercharger
Mk1a
and the pick of the bunch a Mk1.5 turbo

However, seriously considering another at the moment, finances allowing. I miss driving the MR2 too much and fancy a project as well, so I'm tempted to get one reasonably cheap that needs some work done on it so that I can learn a bit more.

Was seriously considering an SC a week ago, but I don't think I can stretch my budget to one of those right now...

Only troubles are that it's proving impossible to find a garage for my current Mk1 and I managed to almost crash my fwd, front engined Peugeot today, in a skid that started off with oversteer (!) due to a muddy corner. So my initial concerns about dodgy country roads around this area have been realised and I think an MR2 may spell trouble in winter around here...


But 17! That's a serious bug you have there!!! So, how many of those have you written off?

My habbit stated by wanting another Mk1 as a winter run-around. I already had a 1988 tbar but didn't want to wreck it on the salty, slushy, wet roads, plus there was the added chance of an accident.
I sourced a 1987 coupe that was smart, a little wraggy round the rear arches but it didn't matter as i would sell it in the Spring. Well Spring came and the MR2 stayed, then I saw the SUPERCHARGER....!!
After a few months of research and sourcing I found a nice 1989 tintop in mica blue, bought it and 2 became 3.
Next came along a 1985 coupe that I bought for £100 which quickly became the North East track car ( see MR2 MK1 club website ) and the next one was a 1985 coupe in sherwood toning, couldn't resist that one, quite rare. Next was 3 more Superchargers, a 1987 tbar, a 1987 tbar with auto and a 1988 tin top auto, this one was eventually sold to an enthusiast in Denmark.
Then I was given a 1988 tbar ( don't ask ), then my wife bought one, then a few more coupes came along as well as my highly modded 86' coupe.

You could go on and on. I do however realise I have a problem, the Mr2 bug. It's amazing how many enthusiasts own more than 1 MR2, do you think this is because they are so affordible.

The last 7 have all been in the last year, lost a huge sum of money from buying the wrong cars.... at least I'm happy with the ones I've got now, just wish I'd found them in the beginning as I'd have saved ££££'s.

1985 white 1a sun roof- was attacked by a merc sprinter from behind, died
1987 white 1b Sun roof - sold to a friend still around
1987 silver 1b T bar - killed an engine or two, fixed then sold
1986 sherwood 1a - Turned into a MR2 challenge car

Well...just the 2: my old Mica Blue T-Bar NA, bought in 2002.....

Sold this in 2005!

Wanted more power (dont we all..?)...so bought a sunroof AE101 S/C conversion (also Mica Blue ).....

Still have this...but its now been modded slightly

....oh....and its now Satin Black

I've only owned 2, a red1a and the sc super edition i still have.
Bit dissapointed at the moment, was meant to be going to our last pub meet in the SE of the year, went to the car yesterday battery dead, had it on charge all day, started up fine. Went to go out in it today, battery dead again No time to get it back on charge again, so missed meet

Had it back on charge again and will see if it holds charge this time, otherwise i'm going to have to get a new one.
One day i might get another but will be keeping the sc for many more years

Wow did toyota produce that many SC's - thought they were rare

I've managed 5 in the past four years, and like many can't imagine the drive without one (or two )

88 NA Coupe - sold when no.1 son arrived ( swapped for Corolla GTi )
89 NA Coupe - sold thanks to Gordon Brown's IR35 tax on freelancers
87 SC T-bar - current track/road car, soon to be retired from track use and replaced by....
88 Coupe - being stripped and converted to SC for track use only
86 NA Coupe - daily driver while working on the other two, probably will be sold when T-bar back in 'pure road' spec
