Michael,i'm afraid you have taken the edge from the thread.
Finally we have a U.K member (apart from myself  ) who has NO sponsors and NO backing out of his OWN pocket, making a large margin over 400hp.
I made 446.3hp at Perfect Touch today INCLUDING the problems the car has.
Lag is only present if you're in the wrong gear.Although its not yet how i want it,and the power comes in at 5.5k,its revs to 8.5k similarly to Nathans and its far from boring.
Who's visiting the Pod this sunday?

I think he's a bit beyond 1/4 mile times Andy ;) Driving in a straight line is a bit of a waste of his talents

(by the way, I don't think there has been any name calling, just stiring from both sides :) )

ive seen what times he achieved when this car was virtually standard on a ct20,constant 12.8`s,which is faster than a lot of highly modded mr2`s ive seen run!
and as he is a pro race driver i doubt he lacks ability, just the time to get to the strip!
im pretty sure that when he does get to a strip that the times will be impressive! if not the best imoc have seen so far!
have to wait & see :D

Ok, so i never follwed everyone else and went down the GT garrett range going for quick spool up - maybe it was down to cost - what was available at the time - and something different.......

Im not asking for people to kiss my ass - some people are bound to like my setup - some people are bound to not like it weather they do or dont isnt really down to me.

Im always up for constructive critism (spelling) as Earl and MR2lover have already said my setup isnt their cup of tea and i never had any problem with that.

I have not forced what i have done down peoples throat i have simply put up a thread with my results and my spec.

As for the antique.... what you talking about? The car or the turbo? As i believe they are both of the same era.. its not like im putting an old skool turbo on the cutting edge technology car now is it #-o

It depends on what your goal was / is, pub bragging rights

Yeah your bang on their..... when i went to get the car mapped i said to Rob - 'i dont care what it drives like, just get me 500hp regardless' And ive always got time to go down the pub and brag about my car!!

Agreed, the end result is a spectacular number and something of an achievement when presented in an MR2 package, it just takes the edge off things when the area under the graph is similar to that of well fettled CT20 hybrid until 7000rpm.

Well if thats the case ill get thrashed down the 1/4 by a well fettled ct20 mr2 as they get max boost by 3k and hold to red line and as ive only got more power after 7k their pro's must out weigh my cons so we will see...

I also cant understand how i destroyed my friends EVO VI who had it dyno'd @ 469 FWHP on the same dyno - on the same day as me and he is running a GT3071 @2bar making full boost by 3,800.......

I think your comments were a bit un called for - for sure you dont like it and thats your bag but desructive critism isnt gonna make anyone happy. Esp coming from an IMOC organiser!

Anyhow as your the TOTB organiser i guess i can take myself off the prospective list.

7 pages of ass licking, then you get 1 person who doesn't , and your sulking and calling him names, get over it and get your quarter mile time in

I havent called anyone any names - just think the mannor of the replies were un called for. I am also not sulking - maybe have a re read of my posts.

As for 1/4 mile.... i was planning on running @ shakespear last weekend but had to run my race team and would love to be @ pod this weekend but am being paid to race at a big trophy meeting @ silverstone so unfortunately i cant make it!

If there is any other days you know of ill do my best to make it as im very eager to see how it goes.

Thanks for the other comments guys and Elmo.. well done!!!! Great to see your project is coming together now \:D/

Well Said nath =D>

Good luck for weekend, Would love to race against you one day to see the difference between a upcoming stig and a young maverick

If you ever have a open day at track give us a bell would love some extra lessons.

Plus i love your setup dude just would have a different turbo to combat surge and lag but it drives as you like then screw everyone else its your car

Very good torque curve nath but christ that thing is laggy you dont cross the 200ftlb line to 5500 rpm and thats a 4th gear pull, bet first and second gear is even worse too as not so as much load is created. No way that thing will create full boost in 1st, 2nd and i will be just in 3rd

End of day it revs to 8k so aint that bad

TBH i bet the car aint that bad on fuel also as the injector duty wont be anything until 5500rpm but it will drink it after that

Dont forget the torque graph is @ the wheels so that does bring the torque up a little.

As for fuel yeah its not bad at all - i only really drive it hard because i only go out in it when i want a bit of fun but im still getting about 180 miles to a tank on full chat so its nothing drastic but not as good as my focus ST lol!!!

Cheers Ryan :D

I do hold an ARDS instructor license so im fully covered by the MSA to give you some lessons if you ever wanted..... 8)

Ill be honest now - when i brought the turbo kit i was very worried about the lag but as it happens i think it adds to the experience of driving it - and if at the end of the day i get a bit sick of it then i can oik the turbo off and get a gt35r and bolt it to my manifold and jobs a good un!

To combat the compressor surge im embarking on another build which will include big valve head, RMR intake, sleeved block, 2.2stroker kit and some juicy 1000cc injectors for starters!!

That should liven the turbo up too......

thanks,

Nathan

excellent numbers nathan, well done!
I guess you better look out for them ct20's eh!! lol!

I guess you beat your mates evo and the P1 because they are slow cars and have poor traction eh!

Well done again, i'll be watching your times next year andd hope to see you at some of the 1/4 tracks next year.

Nathan... dont bite.. !!! Its board banter !!
I can see that !!

Mine resembles a fiesta pop plus under 5k ... as long as you like it and you can drive it !!

The gearings quite short in these cars, so we can get away with a little lag !

One thing I was aiming for with my setup, gearbox / driveshaft longivity. Very Happy I have history of driving it a little too hard and the results are more hassle for me to pull the box out and more moths being exposed to atmosphere. A little lag helps reduce the shearing torque transfer of the engine, especially if its trying to break traction too thus increasing life of the drivetrain and reducing clutch wear. All adds up.

Ahh, wise man who has spent too much time under car, covered in driveshaft grease - good idea :thumleft:

Nath - Love the setup, it looks awsome :)

Im kinda in the middle of the field here ... i like the whole fast spoll for throwing it about round town but then i do like having mega power when your on the motor way and wanna play.

Be interesting to see what happens after stage 2 is complete :)

Dude, lets get one thing straight right now...

Just because a car has a quick spooling turbo doesn't mean it can't go "playing on the motorway". Go for a ride in Mark Edwards car and after you've wiped your ar5e, tell me different!

You guys seem to think a fast spooling turbo won't produce power in the high RPM area. You're wrong!
