[Mk2 NA] Will these shoks fit my MR2?

Post by dalord »

Hi oh wise people, i have recently had one of my shocks die on my beloved motor. and i wondered if these would fit as i am in a bit of a pickle as my car has non-removable suspension inserts :( so the kyb's i just brought are no good.

So i need to purchase a pair of new strut assemblys

These are the ones i am considering purchasing but they are from a US site and are for LH drive cars, but is there any difference on them compared to the RH drives?

My Car is an MR2 MK2 Rev1 N/a Sw20 frame

I am also open to any other suggestions :)

As standard ur Rev1 should have rebuildable shocks unless somewhere along the line they have been replaced?

If this is the case, then purchase the rebuilable strusts from a s scrapyard. Or , alternatively, if you haven't bought the inserts yet, get some yellow Bilsteins...

Mine defo has non rebuildable shocks on. i have the inserts at home but i was considering refunding them. To purchase complete struts,

Would love to have the above shocks on but cant afford £500 on a set

yes. thoese yellow billies will fit any mk2 MR2. In the US sales stopped in 95, but in the UK they went on a bit more with the rev3,4 and 5.

As Swiss Heavy says though, your struts should be black, and have a big nut just below the chrome shock piston.

If someone has swapped oe bilsteins on from a rev2+ turbo (which are black, and have a blue and yellow bilstein sticker on), then the link you've got would be replacements for these sealed units.

Seeing as you've got the inserts, why not try and find a set of rebuildable struts to put your inserts into?

I got a full (2nd hand) set with topmounts, springs etc for £75.

thanks for the answer, but i can get them for approx £150 inc shipping. The inserts i have purchased cost £122 so i would rather have a set of the billies for the same price or less than i could get 2nd struts and the inserts for.

But thank you everso much for your help answering my Q :D

Bilsteins here i come! \:D/

Erm...you do realise that the price on that US site is for one strut @ $123.73!!
So multiply that by 4 which = $494.92 dollars without delivery and possibly VAT & Customs duty!!
By my calculations that's approx £260...how are you getting a full set for £150??

only replacing the rear atm so 2x$123 + del = about $246 + del $46 =$292 which is about £159
