Turbo Exhaust on a N/A 2

Post by darkmagi »

I need a couple of bits of advice, the first thing i wanted to know is if anyone has fitted a blueflame exhaust to there 2, Im wanting to buy a ss exhaust but im not sure what is the best to buy, Im looking for something that gives a nice burble on tickover & is nice & loud when pushing the fast pedal, I really like the turbo version of the blueflame exhaust & that brings me to my second question can i fit a turbo exhaust to a n/a by that im meaning will it fit straight on without modding the downpipe or flexy pipe & will there be enough backpressure for the car to run correctly.

If anyone has a ss exhaust they are wanting to sell could you get in touch with the make, size of pipes & how loud it is.

Cheers.............Tom :D

My f inlaw has a blue flame on his NA.
it sounds great at idle and taking off.
with regards to your turbo fitting.the mid section(flexi) is were u could have a problem as the NA is a twin pipe were it joins to the downpipe but am not sure what the turbo arrangement is as standard.but think most of them have cats which would probably be single opening.

I fitted a straight thru exhaust to a NA once and u defo could tell that their was a slight lack in power(not so much of a punch).but to be honest the way the exhaust has been designed and engineered by each manufacturer would determine this.

If u are close to dudley, west mids u can come and listen to my inlaws has i have got it at moment due to him wanting me to sell it for him.

Im in Not So Sunny Scotland but thanks for the offer, I only wanted the turbo exhaust because it looks better than the n/a verison ( in my opinion ) but the n/a will do if it has a nice note at tickover, I was really hoping to find an exuast that sounded like a sti scooby at tickover you know the nice burble you get from the boxer engine & please no one reply that to get a scooby sound go & buy a scooby, Not funny. :D

Blueflame exhausts are superb quality build wise and sound wise Ive never heard a bad one yet

Just for your information,Blueflame make Mongoose.

If you could be bothered to drive up to Lancashire to the Blueflame factory they will make one to your exact requirements sound and looks wise.

Thanks for the info, When i checked out Ebay i noticed that the blueflame & mongoose exhaust looked the same but the one that was selling as a blueflame had what i thought looked like better exhaust tips than the mongoose exhaust.

just thought i should mention i have a turbo exhaust on my n/a and it sounds insane. its a full departure s/s exhaust system with a 4 branch race manifold. really deep loud roar and at high rpm all hell breaks loose (noise wise).

i think i've lost quite a bit of low down torque though

It is possible to fit a turbo exhaust to a n/a but you need to get work done to the system b4 it will fit.

I have a nur spec (turbo exhaust) on my non turbo and its sounds + looks great.

http://media.putfile.com/exhaust-64-25 :D

Oh and I didnt loose any torque or bhp.

ahh the trusty and overly accurate butt-dyno.

If the exhausts are free flowing, they WILL lose power on an N/A. They require a certain amout of back pressure, wereas turbos do not. The free'r the better for turbos.

ChicoRaceWorks do an NA/Turbo exhaust adapter in the us. Would save having to manipulate a perfectly fine turbo exhaust if you did want to fit it.

Like that. Guess it just moves the N/A manifold join to the same location as the Turbo downpine join.

Mate I'm only telling you what I've read off the site that has been linked to. I've never fitted one myself, so if it doesn't work, thats nothing to do with me.

If you've got major doubts then call ChicoRaceWorks. The guy that owns it is friendly enough, and will be able to asnwer questions with more certianty.

Personally I would just do it and stop panicing.

thats the exhaust on my N/A

sounds mental. if you can put up with how loud it is then go for it. you'll lose torque by doing it though. your mr2 wont be as punchy

i'm happy to say that i'm Chicoraceworks Offical Uk Contact now, i've spoken to josh about this before and he says that the 3sge and 5sfe manifold is different where they finish. this item was made for the 5sfe and he said won't fit onto the 3sge.

Although if someone wants to be a gunine pig for me on this i'll get a load made if i can get a pattern done and start stocking them for you n/a guys. I want to get into some N/A parts anyway. was going to do some Decat pipes in the same quality as my 3sgte downpipes.

What you n/a guys think?
