like yourself, this was acheived with completly standard internals

Mike, i'm not running std internals lol.

I have totally rebuilt the motor. The only things std in it now are the rods, crank and main bearings.

Everything else has been done inc arp bolts throughout \:D/

So you have standard rods, standard crank and standard main bearings.

I take it that the thrusts and big ends are of a higher quality than standard then, and that you're running forged pistons.

I'm not being argumentitive here Nath, but that sounds relitively standard to me mate.

I guess it just goes to show how much hp the standard internals will take!

Whats that turbo on yours then nathe? any ideas on what hp its rated to..?are you running wild cams to get 500 hp

My Thor/billet BB t04/sc67/35r thingy looks very similar in size (mines rated to 600 whp) and i,m getting full boost at 4700 RPM.......(not saying yours is poo or anything just trying to get a comparison to a similar sized turbo ?).... :-k

Any ideas.....??

Great figures by the way mate 8)

Cant wait to crank my puppy up past 1.4!!!!mines only managing 350@ hubs (about 400 hp)at the minute..... :-s :-k

to help nath after seeing that turbo i'm not 100% sure what it is as there is no markings but the compressor blades are huge. bigger than any gt35r based turbo i've seen.

Shame we didn't pop the compressor housing off when we had chance nath and mearsure the Compressor exducer and find out how big it really is. Got to be atleast 3-3.5" across at the inducer.

Looks very much like the Blitz k27 3667 mokja to me (rated to 650ps)-the position of the turbo on the manfold and the welded alloy pipe on the front of the compressor housing thats goes to the intercooler looks identical to the cars thats I nearly bought through Rogue/N.V.I....

Interesting that you thinks its HKS......If it was it would defo use a Garrett based turbo so if you measured the footprint of the exhaust housing it might give you a clue...... Also I'm pretty sure HKS turbo kits use HKS wastegates.....

BLITZ and SARD both do very simliar K27 (KKK) based turbo kits the manifolds IMO are the same...its only BLITZ however that go as big as 3667 on MR2's..... KKK turbo footprints are different to garrett aswell (I was going to adapt a SARD manifold to garrett by then deided to just have a bespoke manfold made instead....)...........sumo power website is very informative!!!)

It could also be a HKS T04R or even a T51 (they've all been done before by pheonix power....)

the turbo kit hes got is a sard kit, its ment to have the Sard KKK3070MOJ turbo fitted but this isn't the correct turbo but the rest of the kit is definitly from that. Manifold, wastegate etc are all sard.

So it won't be a garret based turbo then as it would'nt fit the manifold........

don't know its not a new kit, it could have had the footprint changed etc.

didn't look that closely as it was all assembled when nath showed it to me. Nath did say there wasn't an identification plate on there either on the chra section. Would have made life a lot easier.

yeah manifold could have been changed i suppose.....I bet its a 3667 mokja.....The one I looked at was fookin huge !!!!  looked bigger than mine however after some research I found It was ONLY rated to 650ps   O:) :clown:

mmmm its hard to say. Its not carrying any HKS markings of the t04s nor does it have the bullet shapped retaining nut on the compressor blades that the signature models had.

Although in its defence, a HKS Demo car made 500ps at 1.7 bar using a HKS based T04s kit, albeit naths has a different manifold and wastegate from a sard kit the power figures are very similar at those pressures.

Maybe a t04s Chra and compressor housing modified into the KKK3070 exhaust housings, thats why its not no HKS markings on the housings?

Its hard to say.

who knows ...? but its obvouisly doing the job....be interesting to see it a 2+bar !!!!!

Just as a comparison..... Iv'e seen T88's not hit full boost until 7000rpm so I reckon nathes has got to be rated to around 650-700hp.....

Get it wound right up kid !!!!!!

saying that i've seen t88 34d's hit 2 bar boost by 5800-6000rpm before, and thats the largest t88's i believe. Used on the Phoenix power AKAGI car but that was also 2.2ltr and make 750ps by 8500rpm and was running 2.4 bar boost.

Car also weight 1050kg's which spells scary in anyones books

Earl, the engine has got...

CP forged pistons
ACL bigends
ARP bigend bolts
ARP head studs
HKS 1.2mm head gasket
Re bore, rod re size, head skim etc etc
HKS 272 cams
HKS valve springs

Yes, it has std crank and std rods but apart from that everything has been changed so its not that std.

As i said, i never expected that power. If i had i would have gone eagle rods. But i still would retain the std crank.......

As for the turbo, Tim i never really inspected it closely before i fitted it for markings so its really difficult to tell although i cant feel anything under it.

Also the TO4S hks turbo never had the bullet shaped nut (unlike the to4r & t51)

Like Tim said, the impeller blades are fooking huge and the exhaust outlet is a good 10cm with the blades filling the hole a treat.

What ever this turbo is, it means serious business. At 1.7 bar this beast is only just getting going. And as Rob said, to make 400 @ 1.4 bar and then 500 @ 1.7 bar that shows the volume of air this thing is flowing.

I do have plans to get the block sleeved, bigger valves, eagle rods and an RMR over christmas then i can got for something like 2 bar and see what it will give........

Rob told me before i left that the map was a safe one... quite rich with little ign so if he ran it a bit closer to the wire we could have squeezed more without raising the boost but i would rather keep it safe for the sake of 30 or so horsepower!

Any how, when i get back from brands ill post up pics of the graph and the final setup.

And when the turbo goes off to be altered to stop compressor surge ill get turbo dynamics to measure up and tell me the capabilities of the beast.

Thanks,

Nathan

no doubt its making the numbers mate not trying to take that away from you.

Just would be nice to know for sure what it is, as "dangerous" point out the kkk3070 has a different footprint from the hks t04s and we know for sure its a sard manifold and set up.

Whatever you have Nath, it's a beast, and one to look out for in the future, that's for sure.

Again, congrats on the numbers mate. Excellent going.

Thanks Nath,

It'll just be nice to get it back and drive the thing again. After driving round in my Starlet for a few months, it's goign to come as a bit of a... errr....

...culture shock, shall we say.

I'm looking to run it for the rest of this year and the start of 2007 on the GT3071, then when it's really bedded in, swap over to a GT35 and go for some serious numbers.

We'll see.
