TT 225

Post by night spirit »

Was over in Mansfield last night, came upto a red light minding my own business. Nice looking black TT 225 pulls up next to me but I ignore him and I assume he is ignoring me. Lights go green and he goes for it, by the time I reacted he was 3 car lengths ahead but I thought I'd give it a go anyhow. As predicted 1st gear pulled 2 car lengths back and part throttle in 2nd and a short shift into 3rd was all that was required to keep up (was on a dual carriageway but didnt fancy going round him on the outside of the bend in case he was a naf driver).

Got to the next set of lights where he looked quite smug. Think he assumed I was going all out, but tbh I was surprised just how easy it was to catch him. Normally it's hard to turn such a gap around when another driver gets their foot down so much earlier.

Suppose 225bhp/200lbft/1450kg is never gonna mix it with a modded rev3.

True, but they do chip to 270hp/280lbft so there must be a few handy ones out there.

Hello, being a current owner of a 225 they are quite lardy, but you can get upto around 300 horses for about £1000 - £1200 and the 4WD is handy in the wet too :D

If your wondering why the hell is a TT owner posting on here, then it's because Im an ex MR2 owner, and use to be a regular on the old forums :D

I posted a "Driving Experience" not so long ago about the 225 Coupe

I find the TT a nice crusing/motorway car .. loads of comfort, solid, quick enough to get you out of danger

True.

I was driving to work theother morning when two of them came past. You could see that the one was lowered etc, and it was just playing with the more stock looking one.

dont know about the tt, but i raced an S3 with the 275-280 brake supposidly chip. At the time my rev 3 only had an exhaust and air filter-was very very close-nothin in it-we managed to up to 135mph an a long straight-there was absolutely nothing in it-since then ive had a few bits, boost controller-de-cat, i/c ready to go on-id be condfident in beating it now but there a good match to a fairly standard rev3 with that chip on!
(S3's having the same engine as the tt and weighing approximately the same)
