Doing 80 - 90 is fair enough as but speeds of 140 + on a public road, twice the legal limit - you should be shot!

Dont be silly  . Theres no problem with that speed as long as the conditions allow (ie: dry, clear stretch, can see far enough ahead) and your car is capable of it

[quote="AndyMR2NI"]U think this is a laughing matter son? When you have had 1 cousin killed and 1 permanently brain damaged by a drunk driver doing 100+mph, it kinda changes your views on speeding!

So excuse me if i sound a little hostile but I am not the only person who has lost good friends due to mindless morons like your good self! :?

I am sincerely sorry for your losses, truthfully.. but this lad never said he was drunk did he ? I didn't hear him even say he was doing a 140mph as you originally quoted either.. so, sad as i am for your loss, and anyone elses loss to a drunk driver, your splitting hairs and making yourself out to be a bigger righteous w**ker than you already are.. so think a little less than 1 dimensional and don't dare judge everyone who speeds by the actions of a drunk !

And if you can honestly say you have never exceeded the limit, well your in luck, the Pope will need a successer soon, and who better than a man pure as the driven snow.. !!!

My own stupid fault if i get caught but i was concentrating on looking forward on behind me at the time.

I think your confusing drunk driving with speeding, big, big difference.

If he said, i came out the pub after a couple of pints and decided to open the car up your reaction would be justified.

He didn't, it wasn't.

I don't normally jump in on this sort of thing but what the hell. Speeding is wrong, we all know it, but we all do it. As long as the car and the driver are in a fit state to do it, it's a clear day with good visibility, little traffic and mostly, the appropriate road for it, then what the hell. Just don't be stupid about it. :)

Drink drivers are a different matter, should all be shot without trial.

I have hit the speed limiter on my tubby a few times, not once felt like it was dangerous or I was out of controle. MR2 convoys to santa pod usually see 100+
Now the Apexi is fitted and the limiter gone I may be able to keep up with the N/A boys doing a naughty 140+

No, it wasn't me, i had the speed limiter in place still, though hands up, if it hadn't of been, i'd of been there with him.

Too right. My best friend was killed by a drink driver, so I'm particularly venomous when someone tells me a 'humous' story of when they drove home from the pub drunk.

Its ironic that speeding motorists are often more severely punished (120mph +) than drink drivers! How can that be?

There's no denying that speeding can kill, but it's usually the tw*ts that do 50-60 in a 30 residential area that are the problem. We're talking 100mph+ on roads like motorways where the 70 limit is just a joke in most places.
