Engine coolant needed urgently TODAY

Really need some engine coolant today as I am pretty much out but Mr T are shut in Liverpool, does anyone know if Halfords do something that I can use as I need my car for work tomorrow.....help me :D

just buy the coolant from halfords. You shouldn't really mix brands of antifreeze so change the whole lot. 5 litres of concentrate will do the job

does it not hold about 14 litres??? if so then you ll need more than 5 litres

yeah its about 13-14 litres but unless you tip the car up on its end you never get all of it out. True you could then argue put in 7 litres of antifreeze then top up with whatever water required to be certain you have a 50/50 mix. 1:1 ratio is good for -30deg but who drives an MR2 in that weather?

dont forget to buy 5l of distilled water.. dont use tap water......

Why not? I always use tap water, or is this the mysterious HG failure thing?

PS I have always used tap water and never had a problem in 8 yeras of MR2 ownership

Halfords advanced coolant is Ribena Red, just like Forlife - and ISTR is OEM for VWs. I've got a load ready to put into the Mk1 after the head goes back on.

£15 for 3 or 4 litres, you can use tap water (its contains addititives to stop hardness affecting the alloy engine head block) to let it down to ~33% concentration.
