Post by cbryson »

Just bought my first MR2 a week or 2 ago.

Gt Turbo Jap import (rev2), and i love it! :D Howevr i do have a few questions.

1. where can i get a new boot lock, as mine is knackered, and the inside lever does not work either.
2. I have a switch just behind the gearstick, what on earth is it for?
3. erm, sure i had more questions, but mind has gone blank at the mo......

oh well, thanks in advance,

chris :D

Is it an Auto????

Try a brakers for a new lock but you wont have a key. Or you can try and find out why the one on the car is not working.

He sais its a turbo so it wont be an auto. Not sure what the switch behind would be though. Ive seen a few MR2s with a little LED behind the gear stick. Something to do with a non standard alarm

Does the car have an electronic boost controller? A push button switch can sometimes be for the scramble feature on some controllers.

Try gts-chris (in the toon) or JJ (Tees-side) for boot lock or Japanese breakers in yellow paper.

Switch behind gear stick?? Non-standard---could be anything.Ejector seat perhaps.

thanks for the replies,

switch might have something to do with the alarm then, but it does not do anything, i will have to follow the wire underneath and see where it goes. :?

Just a thought, but if i drill the boot lock out will i still be able to close it and just use the lever inside the car to open it, not bothered about it actually being locked for the time being, or will it not stay closed at all?

My guess is that the car is fitted with a Clifford alarm system, and the switch is the anti-hijack switch.

Perhaps a posted picture could throw some more light on things?

have you got a working horn on the steering wheel? after market wheel?
Possibly a push switch for a horn - it's where mine is.

is it a small black rectangular thing with 2 buttons? one plain & one with tiny dot in middle? if so, it is the clifford code button thingy-me-bob
