Have i made a mistake - newbie - help required

Post by Paulmorrison26 »

Hi

Ive just bought my first mr2 turbo GT t bar from a local garage, it is a 1993 k reg that has done 55,000 km other than a couple of blitz gauges and an exhaust it is standard.

However i have just read that the rev 3 mr2s are meant to be so much better!!!

Have i made a mistake and bought the wrong car for a project car?

How much better are rev 3's?

I wanted to get the car to a reliable 300bhp (fly) can this be achieved with a rev 2 - or would i be best off getting rid and starting with another car

It would seem a shame as this one is in really good condition - HELP anyone what should i do??? [-o<

sorry if any of this is old hat to any of you!!!

nothing wrong with a rev 2 mate, you only really get a bit more power, better fuel economy, and a better lookin rear end, but you ve prob saved money money buying a rev 2 so they can go towards mods!

There's plenty of Rev 1 & 2's that make well over 300bhp so if it's a good one i'd keep it mate. Just a note tho, did you get the history with the car 'cos 55,000kms (34,000 miles) is very low for a car of that age.

Look at the 1/4 mile table. The top 2 are Rev 1's

from what ive seen rev 1 and 2 produce more torque than rev 3's with the same mods!

if you wanted to you could convert the engine to a rev 3 using the ecu and a catch can.
