modifications - subforum by category

Post by rookie-racer »

as a lurker, one of those rare people who would rather read others experiences rather than make a pest out of himself, I find the modifications forum a nightmare to sift through. i was thinking it would be alot more usable if the mods were to create some subforums and divide the existing posts up into the following categories...

1 engine
1a na tuning
1b tubby tuning
1c transplants

2 suspension

3 exterior

4 interior

5 ice

It's an interesting idea, but it does have some pitfalls - for example, the first one is that it's not all about mk2s of course, so you're also looking at 4AGE/ZE tuning / 3SGTE / v6 transplants into other cars, not to mention the different chassis and internal things which can be done to mk1s and mk3s.

No doubt it would create a fair amount more moderation required to make sure things are posted in the right place, more things moved, more PM's sent, more reporting for moderators etc etc

Also (and this is IMHO) I think one of the strengths of IMOC is the cross-fertilisation of ideas and information across the different mk's (for me, certainly between the different engines).

I'll point this out to the others, but personally I can't see this one flying because of the potential black-hole of moderation time this would need to keep it organised.

What would be nice would be to be able to 'tag' threads for certain things.. very web2.0. Perhaps one day..
