I bought an engine stand to do some work on my car.

I thought that you would use the bolts that go through the gearbox to the head to secure the engine to the arms on the stand??

What am I supposed to do?

i had the same trouble a few years back.
solution, the bolts that hold the rear subframe to the shell are the corect thread and plent long enough(use spacer on the big ones).
I can let you have the 4x long bolts off the gen3 tubby i am breaking right now if i can still find emm.

Yep use the longer ones.If not you should have a reasonably big enough pile of bolts from taking the engine out so you should be able to use something!
When Mark and I took out his SC engine we had to pile loads of washers on because the bolts were too long.
