what mileage not to tune at?
i realise this is very subjective.
every engine is going to wear differently depending on use and servicing but does anyone think theres a upper mileage at which you shouldn't tune the turbo engine? i'm primarily thinking boost increase?

I think that in essence you have answered your own question really! Before tuning you simply need to establish the current condition of the engine in question.

Re: what mileage not to tune at?
from the motors ive seen 100k isn't anything to worry about
Re: what mileage not to tune at?
There isn't a
'mileage' as such
- it much more depends on how the car and engine has been looked after.

Eg I bougbt my Rev2 with 35k miles on it in
'98, tuned it over the years gradually until it was running 280 and 300 bhp with 154,000 miles when I sold it just over a year back.
Its still going strong.

Bottom line is if you are careful with your tuning, and the car has been well looked after before, you'll have no problems.

What they said^^

I've owned a MK1 with 277,000 miles on it which was unichipped at 255,000 miles and gained an extra 15bhp and some 30 lb/ft torque
- pulled like a train right up to the point the bodywork made it uneconomically repairable!!

277,000 miles

That's got to be some kind of record.
