he's upgrading to the ZX10 which does 90mph in first gear a real weapon.

Got 141bhp from a machine weighing 208kg, will do 0-60 in 3.6sec and top out 154mph all standard! And its not even a sports bike, its a sports tourer.

What were you racing him in anyhow?

178bhp from a 172kg machine. No car will catch that in a staight line. I have ridden one of these machines and they are awesome. They will hit 90mph in first gear. Im sorry, but he couldn't have been trying very hard!

Ok, I'm just wondering if this has been done at all. I know its done on some drag cars and the like, but is it possible on the MR2?

My thinking being, on a motorbike, as you change gear, it cuts the ignition for a fraction of a second allowing for lightening gear changes. What would have to be done to a car to allow this?

What you are talking about is a sequential box. Its not bike gears though they operate in a similar way. Quaife will build you a sequential box for around 7K.

Quickshifts just shorten the throw of the gearchange, though its a personal thing of whether you like them or not as it can make the gearchange a bit more notchy and obviously by shortening the throw the changes become a little bit heavier too. I tried one on a tubby years ago and didn't like it much. Up to you.

There's are quickshifter kits you can get for motorbikes, that as soon as you press/lift the pedal for a gear change, it cuts the ignition for a fraction of a second. I was wondering if this would work on a car. ie, do nothing with the clutch, but as you take the car out of gear, the ignition cuts allowing you to slip it into the next gear, in which time the ignition is back on allowing for a incredibly fast gear change.

I've already got a trd short shifter and I think its great

Fensport are using this on their Corolla (full thottle gear change) i have seen these advertised some where, but i cant remember where, think there about 100 quid.

For bike quick shifts check http://www.holeshot.com/ I have used one on a friends Bandit 12 that he set up for bracket racing and they are flawless. Dunno if you could adapt them for a car though. . .

As for out racing a car on my bike. . . unless it is in the 1/4 I am gonna have a hard time. YOu can see my bike here http://mishadbull.tripod.com/trip 1/4 in about 11 @ 110 or so but I top out at about 125 so . . .

Can't think why you'd want that though. I guess its only application is drag racing.

Although its purely out of interest, the 2 isn't turning into a drag car yet!
