Flailing Performance - why??
Hey all,
I've got a standard Rev1 and have found recently that the performance just isn't what it was.
I know I need to change the cambelt, and it needs a good service & oilchange, but is this it?? I can't help but worry that there is something more dire wrong!!
Any suggestions as to things it could be, the turbo is spooling ok, bizarrely though it doesn't seem to have as much kick at the second entry??
Thanks peeps

Re: Flailing Performance - why??
Sell it to me for next to nothing and buy yourself a rev 4!

Only joking!!

Try a service, a clean air filter and new oil can make all the difference to any car.

Maybe your turbo is comming to the end of its life, I understand the performance can slowly drop off.

Re: Flailing Performance - why??
Check the basics bud! plugs, leads, timing, check your turbo for shaft play.
report back for further asistance.
Fonzy

R u getting full boost?

R u getting full boost?
thanks
Hey there,

I do have to check the leads and plugs as I haven't done this since I bought the new one, I am getting Full boost in third and first, but think its stopping just short of the top of the dial on second, although I cant be sure as its difficult staring at the boost when your soaring down the road.

I am hoping its just the basics, really dont want a new turbo!! the house comes first
(damm stupid growing up!)

P.S r.Dawson, only had it since Nov

Re: Flailing Performance - why??
I hear dizzy caps and rota arms are needing replacing on regular basis.
check condition.
Also check pipes and hoses are not split.

Worth a try!

Hmmm, not really.

Try resetting the ECU.

What fuel are you using? Get a service done, ie check plugs cap rotor arm etc, filter should be ok like you said.

To reset the ECU, fill with optimax, kill the engine, remove fuses from under the bonnet and under the hood named

You could do with an aftermarket Boost gauge really, then you'll knoe how much boost you are running.

Like Fonzy said, get the timing checked if mothing happens after service and ignition checks, and ECU reset.

Thats what I would suggest, they eat through the dizzy caps.

ah ha
Thanks very much for the suggestions, I'll try the cap and the arm, will check the seal between turbo and throttle body, will do the oil, will try resetting ECU,

Hopfully one of the suggestions will sort it!!

Am running optimax at the moment.

R.Dawson, its the second one I've had but only had the first 10mins as some hand jockey drove out in front of me.
(well not 10mins, but you get the picture)

Re: Flailing Performance - why??
do all the thinmgs suggested, run it on optimax only and if its still happening you might have just got used to the car.
i bought my crx late last year and last month i was posative there was summat wrong with it so i took it to my mechanic friend he gave it a full service, replaced the dizzy cap reset the ecu.
but it runs fine just turns out i had got used to how fast it is and it dosnt throw me back in the seat anymore.
still fun to drive and does supprise me at times, but you just loose some of that
"sh!t me this is fast" experience the more you own it.

Re: Flailing Performance - why??
It could be that, i hope not though as it doesn't exite me as much, and i dont drive it that often.
If it is then some major mods are needed!!
