Personalised plates

I need to take a personalised plate off a car and put it on retention (belive thats what its called) and the put the car back to a standard plate

any ideas how to do this or where to get full info ???

:P You need a "Application to Retain a Vehicle Registration Number" Form V778/1. You need to go to Local DVLA Office.!!!! :wink:

Check the prices though. it's sometimes cheaper to transfer the plate to an old heap (with MOT but if you've got the space, on SORN), than putting it on retention.

If I was being totally dodgy, I'd cut the car up, just keep the VIN plate and V5, with 12 Months MOT and a SORN in a garage (or a drawer), and you're sorted for 12 months. Then after you've got the plate back onto a new vehicle tell DVLA you've scrapped the original heap car. But thats being dishonest and you didn't hear it from me......
