Cheapest modified insurance.

Post by blueorb »

Hi, just took a look at gtsdarell white turbo for sale. Looks pretty! However, enquired about insurance and no one wants to know. I can get an umodified car insured for about £620 f/c.

Any thoughts?

blue,

how old are you?

edited to add....

okay, so it's a revII k reg, bout the same as mine,

if your under 25 then your stuck with not a lot of options,

best thing to do is get www.mr2dc.com membership straight away because

a) you can try dorset insurance for a discounted rate (see details on the dc club)

b) Adrian flux require it.

other than that there was 1-2 other people that were happy to insure me from the back of Banzai but not many others.. cant wait till im 25 in october.

Have you tried Autotrader website and then go insurances!! They are pretty good but again it depends on your age and current status ie no claims etc

I got my 2 insurance from there and it was £600 I think which weren't bad, I have slight mods but nothing to write home about.

I think that was F/C as well

Good luck

Age = 29

full n/c

car parked on street at night

3 points (sp 30) in 2003

1xaccident on 26 feb this year, however no claim made.

GTSDarrel's car has a lot of mods!

I want to keep running costs low, plan on using the car as a daily run about, that why I origionally wanted a standard one. It looks as though I may have to import! Seems truamatic!

Dorset don't offer competitive quotes anymore, particularly so on modded cars. I'd call dorset first before you throw £30 away on DC membership!

So who is competitive on mods?

I tried adrian flux for standard car cover. At first they seemed competitve, but then the quote increased a few days later? WTF?

I have found Elephant fairly cheap, but will not insure mods.

Confused's best quote for me was £2500!!!! Best thing was, i had a follow up call from Endsleigh (the only one from confused's list who would quote me) and this numpty proceeded to tell me that he could lower my quote a bit by getting more detail.

After me telling him he would need to come down by £1400 to get competitive and then me having to intricatley describe what strut braces were - he said (in his whiney voise) that it was still coming out really high.

the best bit - he then told me to get a cheaper car insurance with them i should buy a cheaper car?!! At which point i just hung up. Wow - what a salesman.

On a side note - Elephant have been my best quote so far for the turbo, quite cheap and cover the basic mods. Flux were a bit too pricey for me on this.

Skywalker - how come you quote with them is so low? I'm 22 prospectively having a 94 gts turbo with a few mods (nothing major) and flux said £1400 - no claims etc and a nice area. I just don't get it? :?:

Phoned AON yesterday, nearly fell of my chair with shock!!!

Standard gt turbo motor £311.20, This would be a classic type policy, limmited to 5000miles and it not being my main car. Both of these conditions are not a problem, but they insist on a drive way or garage. I don't have one!

I thought about asking my neighbor if I can use his drive.

What a price?

thats because they dony take into account ncb's and because they view you as a car enthusiast, which at the end of the day we all are.

i take it you want one then
