16th/17th September at the Donington Circuit, Derbyshire.

We have our usual MK1 club stand again at this great Kit & Performance car event on both days. Please get there early if you wish to come on the stand. It gives us the chance to get into the show for free, but you will need to show your membership card at the gates, as we obviously are not in ‘kit cars’. Please contact Ken Salmon ASAP if you have lost yours.
£10 for passengers

“The National Kit and Performance Car Show held each year at Donington has established itself as the most exciting fixture on the kit car calendar. Its combination of a large exhibition hall containing 50-plus manufacturers' displays and on-track action has made it an un-rivalled event for kit car enthusiasts.
ON TRACK ACTION
The grand prix circuit at Donington is one of the best tracks in the UK with fast straights and the breathtaking Craner Curves. We make full use of the circuit, and you can too by taking your own car on track - and that's something you can't do at any other kit car event. It's open to the public on the Saturday, and you can either book a whole day's action, or just one or two sessions.(book this yourself – see their website) One other on-track highlight will be a parade of GT40 replicas on the Saturday lunchtime.
on the Sunday the 750 Motor Club will be taking to the track meaning you can see kit cars fighting it out in the Which Kit Car? Championship, amongst other fixtures including the RGB (road-going bike engined) Championship.
WHAT TO SEE INDOORS
The main hub of the event is the large hall filled to bursting point with a brilliant cross-section of the kit cars you can buy. All the main players come to Donington, names like Ultima, Tiger, DJ Sportscars, GTM, Marlin and the like being regulars.
WHAT TO SEE OUTSIDE
In 2005, we vastly improved the club area at Donington by moving it to the infield of the circuit, giving the kit car clubs a perfect setting and a good view of the track, too. For this year, we're aiming to move things on once more. In addition to the peerless location, we'll be offering a £100 prize to the best club stand, and two £50 prizes for runners-up. The judging will take place at lunchtime on the Sunday and the gongs will go to whichever clubs assemble the best selection of cars.”

Will Peter Scatchard be there this year with a race car Jo? I was thinking about going on track myself but with someone who might be able guide me round since it's my first time.

What would be really great is if I could drive the race car since my cars far too shiny for racing.

Just thought - the car last year was the mk1 club race car. Peter does not have this anymore. Its driven by Kevin Poole.

if Tom (icsunonova) is going then he is a great instructor! he knows Donny pretty well IMO, and explains things well. Passengered in his Lotus - nice driftin' Tom! LOL

I will be there as per usuall I have just foolishly offered my car to my brother for a track session he's a total novice only driven a MK1 for about 2 miles should be a laugh till he lunches it

Have you looked at the insurance side of things at all?

there is no huge power difference just more torque so you can be a bit lazy when driving as it pulls from low down without need it to drop a gear.
if my car gets lunched it has cost me less than £300.00 and I will have more reason to rip the P out of my kid bro.
I did Donnington 2 years ago and it is fun for not much money just get out there and have a go the run off areas are sooooo huge you would have to be a complete nob to do damage so long as you dont collect anything else on you way

I guess being kit cars they may use you as moblie bollards! LOL
Hope they stick to good overtaking rules tho'

If you are not on track be sure to park up at the club stand

Donny is a huge wide track with massive run off areas but you do need to be aware of nobs in GRP rockets

there is no compulsary track day! it's there if you want it, yes you need club membership card to get infield and club stand access otherwise you will have to pay and park outside of the circuit

only divers of cars get in free

if there is a problem getting in, then give my mobile a ring on sat (number in the club mag)
