aftermarket intercooler fitment? pics?

so i've got an xs power intercooler (don't degenerate into a flaming thread please ) and im struggling to fit it. i assume all 4inch bar and plate coolers have the same brackets as ive inspected pics of greddy's etc and they look the same.
ive got the engine out for a rebuild so space isn't an issue. the standard fan fits on it fine but im curious as to how people fitted theirs to the car.

i recall a back plate is required to block up the hole from the side vent opening and to mount the cooler onto, but where do peeps get them from, or how easy to make?

i've re-read loads of old threads to help but haven't found any pics or advice to help me.
any pics of the fitment and/or fabrication process would be most thankfully received.

i think you only get a blanking plate with the greddys, mine didnt come with one, so i made one, but i got a template that i used to cut a thin sheet of metal.....

so do you make a template (say a squarish one to fit on the box that leads to the side air scoop and attach your intercooler to that? or do you make it so that it fits where the original does with 2 bolts onto the body of the car at the base, and then 1 up under the side mouldings?

p.s how thin was your metal
