Stiffed on a sale!? How to get my money back?

Post by Bender Unit »

Looks like I have been stiffed on a sale $2000 worth!

I have tried in vain to contact the seller who is quite well known on the American Mr2OC. Its been 5 days and he hasnt responded to any of my emails.

The money was sent by Paypal does anyone know how I could go about reclaiming whats mine?

Regards

James (furious beyond f*king belief!)

Hi James

Sorry to hear that. Did you transfer the money from a credit card to your PayPal account. If so inform the credit card company. They will refund you the full amount and will then chase the refund themselves. PayPal should refund the money although they're buyer protection which relates to ebay is only upto £500.

My Payal account is always fed from my Credit card that way any transaction over £100 is covered by the credit catd anti fraud insurance scheme.

Lets hope the person in the states has just been away or is having trouble with their computer.Have you got confirmation that the mails have been read? I do hope you get a result these sort of people really p*ss me off.

Hello Ed, thanks for the response My pay pal is funded by my Credit Card so I will give them a call - are you sure they can do anything? This wasnt an Ebay purchase so I dont apply for the $500 limit of refunds. IIRC if its a transfer that isnt related to ebay then coverage is unlimted?! I am waiting on a response from Paypal concerning this. :?

Crazylegs, yup I sent the cash as he is well known and I thought nothing could go wrong why he is stone walling me is unknown. :? I have his address and that all checked out so i dont think he has anything to hide. I have his name and after some surfing that is his name and he lives where he says he does and he has the parts he is selling and he even uses the same log on for all the sites he visits.

Hopefully he is just being a mong and will email me but after dropping $2000 I am allowed to get narked if the chump cant email me. If he had a UK address then I would have already visited him if you know what I mean.

Hi Andy,

I am really trying to contain my rage as it may all work out but I fear I might go a bit mental. Maybe I should look up flights to the US - do a spot of debt recovery whilst I am there!

Hope you and Krista are well?

Cheers

Nah wouldnt trust LB if my life depended on it, let alone buy bits off him.

I am waiting to give this guy the benifit of the doubt - spoken to a few well known MR2OC members and they dont think he is that sort of chap!

Fingers crossed - and breathe out :D

Cheers

Link at the bottom to start a complaint with Paypal, it has to be done within 45 days of the sale.

Hi James

My understanding with the credit card company is that they will insure any item over £100. It might differ between credit cards but call them first. PayPal are useless if the money has already left the other persons account whereas the credit card conmpany can recover the money no matter where it has been transferred to.

The buyers/sellers feedback forum is a good place to bring this up. The mods then get involved on that site. Dave Hawkins the mod of that forum does a good job :)

Thanks for the suggestions and support guys, thankfully after speaking to a few main guys in the US MR2OC. He has suddenly emailed me. Turns out the daft prat was sunning himself on a short holiday! :x Nice of him to let me know, I expect the money I sent him paid for it!

Still he has emailed me and shipping will be arranged so hopefully iif he gets his act together I will have the kit shortly.

As Ed suggested if he had stiffed me Barclay car would have refunded the payment and then its pay pal's problem which is good to know! Thanks for the suggestion Ed!

SC61 turbo on its way! - Fingers crossed!

Cheers
