Noooooo.. v-power is the replacement to optimax, and comes with an extra 0.8 ron for free :) and you get a new clubcard with v-power written on it! :D

so optimax (now being replaced) ... 98.2 ron
v-power (optimax's replacement) .... 99 ron

Are shell guarenteeing 99 Ron like Tesco? Or will it be around 99 but they wont guarentee? Like Optimax is supposed to be 98 but you wont find it written on the pump.

the woman at my local station told me its to be 99 ron aswell .... Oh, and on the letter that come with my new v-power shell card, sais 'Be one of the first to experience this new 99 octane fuel.......blablabla'

so, its on paper, id amagin that if it was lesser than 99 ron, its false advertising!

hum, saying its not quite 99 ron, if i get my car mapped to 99 ron.. like spot on 99 ron.. and blow up me engine thru detenation, mabe i could sue shell for a spankin new engine ??? :-k

Remember, those garages that have switched branding yesterday have probably had v-power fuel in the tanks for the past month or so. It's not like shell can magically swap all the fuel over.

My CTR, which i fill up weekly jumped in MPG 2 weeks ago, probably a random fluke but could well be the optimax to vpower switch.

If you sign up to shell plus points and bought a lot of optimax they 'upgraded' your card to the optimax card that gave you more points.

The V-Power card replaces this Optimax card.

after 2.5 years of using only optimax, thought it was about time to get the points card. shell points card arrived last week :D

how much optimax/v-power do i need to buy before i get the better card?

you get more points for using optimax/v-power then i take it?

I'm going to try a few tankfulls of this stuff in the Roadster - I'm currently using Tescos 99RON, will be interesting to see if I notice any difference.

From the Shell website, it looks like its got a stronger detergent package, and some 'friction modifiers'. I'm more interested in seeing if it resists detonation a little better...

When ever i fill up at a petrol station i always push the reset button for my miles, and i noticed (as my friend said to try tesco 99 as its cheaper) that i was getting anywhere between 30-50 miles less (to a full tank depending on how i drive, very very heavy foot!) with tesco 99 than i was using optimax!! thats why i alway fill up on optimax now! havent tried the ultimate as no bp stations around my area

odd, i alwayse got more outa tesco. but that poss cos its like (well was) 3p per litre cheaper here!

i reset me miles every fill up. usually only put in £10 each time, run it till the empty light comes on. i was getin 30 miles outa optimax, 33 outa tesco and i saw 38miles! on V-power!

this is driving sensible around town, with mabe 2/3 quick blasts of full throttle. i do no me car is drinkin petrol tho, think its cos of me worn oil seals in the turbo, llettin oil thru... but its still an eg of the difference.
