'Twas good to meet a few more faces, those burgers sure looked good but if I'd come home full of food I wouldn't have been too popular!

I'm thinking of organising more of a 'driving' meet before the weather changes for the worst, I have a few favourite roads in the W. Surrey / Hants area that I regularly do on my bike - anyone up for that? I can plan a good mix of fast A roads and some windy lanes for a bit of cool-off/sightseeing. Would be around 50/60 miles, starting and ending in Farnham.

I'll have a think about some dates in the next few weeks and put up a separate post.

Ant - I'd be interested to see if you got any decent shots - I have loads of other peoples '2s but never seem to get around to taking any of mine...

Cheers peeps!

Was nice to meet some of you at Guildford but....

Where did you guys go!? The minute, we started to cruise away you all left us...

I like the idea of a driving meet but I dont think it will work if no one sticks together... :|....or knows where we are going.....

But all was not lost...Myself, Ant, Leon and Alex went on our own little cruise and had a drink... 8)

Yeah, it was a shame we got split up. I had no idea where we were going so just played follow the leader.

If we do the run I'll print off a load of Autoroute maps/directions and have planned RV points :thumleft:

Was nice to meet you!

Sounds good to have a more driving orientated meet buddy :) but multimap or AA routefinder aint gonna help everyone from being throttle happy and getting split up!

I was in my rev 3 tubby so should have had no probs keeping up :-k , seems like a few people were more anxious to eat than others.

Seems like a lack of mobile numbers was the main issue #-o

Yea cheers Ant and Nina - was a good larf this afternoon, sure there will be many more mini cruises to come!! \:D/

Not to sure what happened to some as I was at the front.

I saw some people chasing off after a Noble, but I was at the front and unable to monitor everything.

Unfortunately I also need to rely on other people to guide each other as much as possible.

Apologies for not passing on the mobile number, will sort it out for the next Guildford meet.

Next Guildford meet likely to be in a new location as there are plans to find a venue that offers shelter in the event of rain.

Am also going to have a look for an alternative pub so that the drive can be extended.

Was good to meet those of you that I got a chance to speak to. Hope to meet more of you next time :D

I'd like to know where you guys ended up so we can see just how far off we were

One thing that I've done in the past when organising meets or cruises is to post up a mobile number in the thread a day before so people can make a note of it. Then remove the number upon return. That way it reduces the risk of any bots noting it, or anything like that.

Looking forward to the next one. Hopefully they'll continue to grow in size.

Nick - I'll have a look through the pics tonight. I didn't take that many as it started to rain, but will post up what I've got. :D

Hey guys,

Malcolm, I know we won't do the same run again but this would be my suggestion if we did: crawl on the A3 at 50 max on the inside lane until everyone is together and then you can tank it. Ant and Nina got caught by one set of lights, and me n alex got caught by the second lot so we were probably 3 mins behind but would have caught up....

Other possibility would have been to meet at the BP on the A3 to regroup... or even begin it there?

Anyhow was good to have a brief chat to some of you and cheers for the mini meet guys :D

Leeroy we sat on the A3 doing 40 almost until the 1st bridge, Jaspa (Stuart) did try to get your attention before the M25 turn around but being in a Focus you may not have seen him amongst all the other econoboxes.

I think I should have taken the tail end, not Stuart.

Just to re-iterate what Chris has said, we were sat at 40-45mph for ages on the A3 being passed by Micras and every Eurobox under the sun, was gettign very frustrated. We did so because of the traffic lights, we did realise we had lost everyone.

When I was caught up by the middle lot I could not see everybody and didn't know that you guys were not with them. When everyone caught up I had at least two of the MR2s come past me and head off up the A3 - two people whom I knew did not know exactly where we were going.

I therefore made sure I got to the front, was not aware that there had been a second separation of the convoy.

Appreciate the point about regrouping on the A3 at the BP garage - starting it there would make it a short drive if we use the same pub, though new locations are being looked into - but this is quite literally the first time we have lost people on the run, must have just been a bad traffic light combination.

The Guildford meet has been running for nearly 18 months and was taken over by myself about 12 months ago when no-body else could be bothered stepping in to organise it. I have been doing this despite the fact it takes me about 1hour 15 minutes to get there and is over 55 miles each direction because of the good crowd.

We have quite a regular following and I am sure that if you guys make it to the next one you it will be a different situation. Some of the regulars were elsewhere on the OC "a few days drive" meet and a couple were on holiday. Plus Stuart normally has his Rev3 and not a Focus.

I am happy to take on board suggestions from people about drives and locations and am happy to reconsider dates etc to accomodate people. I know this is not just my meet but is everyone's meet, but I also know someone has to stand up and take point, which is why I did offer my mobile number, just not prepared ot put it on the general forum - did say it could be requested by PM. That is also why I put up the location of the pub for those who didn't know.

I am sorry to all those who didn't make it to the pub, maybe I should have handed out my number, but I also wasn't asked for it.

I hope that I do see you all again at the next meet and we make it a bit more successful, as Chris says maybe a reorganisation of those in the queue might be better, so there are those who know where they are going at various intervals in the convoy.

Fair reply fellas, think it was just a succession of misfortunes by the sound of it. I did wonder if you had turned off onto the M25 but I normally get these things wrong so surprise surprise I led the others sailing past  We did correct ourselves and ended up in Bookham - just couldn't find the pub #-o

Please don't think I was being arsey before, I'm sure everyone appreciates your efforts. I did try and organise an IMOC run up to JAE this year along with you but it came to nothing in the end so I also know the frustrations that go with it.

Was nice to see some local faces, see you at the next one

Didn't think you were being arsey, some fair points have been raised, did kinda forget there were new people at the meet.

Hope my reply didn't come across as arsey either it wasn't meant to be.

Hopefully the September meet will be a new and improved Guildford meet with a further spirited drive.
