IMOC Awards

Post by ugli-stix »

Has anyone ever thought of setting up a light-hearted yearly award system for the IMOC forum? I was thinking of a once-a-year affair where there's a few weeks of voting - perhaps over several rounds (nominations -> shortlist -> final vote) where voting is done via emails to a single adjudicator.

The kind of awards I had in mind were:

Best IMOC Newcomer

Awarded to the newbie who makes a big effort to get involved in as many forum and social aspects as possible - i.e. not just on here to solve a problem and then bu88er off.

Filthiest IMOCer

Enough said.

IMOC Couple of the Year

Probably not such a demand for this.... :-k

Sexiest IMOCer of the Year

Male or female - probably better described as "Most Shaggable IMOCer..."

Funniest IMOCer of the Year

IMOCer who always has a funny remark on hand - not to be confused with "Filthiest IMOCer"

Poster of the Year

Someone displaying a large diversity in the type of posts - not necessarily the IMOCer with the largest number of posts ;)

Blondest BBer of the Year

There's always one....

Most helpful IMOCer

Someone who offers advice or is willing to lend a hand in all aspects - not just MR2 techy stuff (so not limited to KB authors).

Affiliate of the Year

Probably a touchy one this... but perhaps going to the most helpful/best service affiliate (or authorised advertiser).

etc, etc... but maybe limiting it to 10 set-in-stone titles.

I kinda feel this would add to the already great vibe on the forum. Note that I'm purposely keeping out car-related awards such as "Most modded 2" or "Most powerful 2" because I think it should be more of a social/fun kind of thing.

Then the winners get their newly won titles (plus the year it was won in) underneath their usernames (under the premium/affiliates/etc bit if there's room). - e.g. "Filthiest IMOCer '06" Hopefully this bit wouldn't be too hard for admin if its only a once-a-year for 10 people thing.

Any thoughts?

Fair enough :| I was kinda thinking of more light-hearted stuff, but if there's already a system in place then that's cool. 8)

A light hearted one would be cool... Maybe the winners could have a tag attached indicating what they have been awared that appears in the same place as user name, location, avatar, et al to the left of posts???
