[Mk2 Generic] Squeaky wipers driving me nuts!

My first post in over a year! The 2 was off the road for ages (a year's worth of public transport ) and I didn't look in here much.

I've got a new engine fitted and the car's better than ever, except for my windscreen wipers.

It's definately rubber on glass squeaking and I cant stop it! I've replaced the blades and cleaned the glass with methylated spirit and still it happens. Anyone got any ideas?

I have to say the site's looking good, and there are quite a few names still here that I recognise. Well done Ben F, Esmond and everyone.

You'd be surprised but its probably not your blades at all. I'd lay odds that its where your wiper arms mount to the car. The "bearing" for want of a better word dries out and squeeks like xxxx. The sound is a ringer for wiper squeek. Get some WD40 in there and also the arm that joins the 2 wiper "bearings". You might have to take the units out to lube them properly. I've done this on 2 MR2's a Levin and a Micra. Each time the owner swore blind it was wipers.
