Just found your site on web after both gaining internet access and buying an mr2 months ago.
car just come back from garage after i sent it in for a check over and been landed with a bill for £450.. leaky thermostat and worn distributor cap/rotor arm..
lesson learnt i think but things i didn't look at when making initial purchase.. probably just deserts as i only gave the previous owner £1500. old bloke who had had it since new..
seeing as i am know £400 lighter in the pocket department does anybody know any mods or other which are free or cheap for now until next payday?

Hey Rob welcome to the club, Mr2 and Cheap isnt really something you hear in the same sentence alot, but if you are looking for some cheap mods buy yourself some IMOC stickers !!! They make your car go at least 2mph faster  (Ask Skywalker he will confirm this i am sure)

Hi and welcome to the site, you will find this site much fun, very informative, and full of nutters like myself, but be aware there is a unwritten code of ethics which protects all against CHAVNESS!
Enjoy the site mate.

Redrobbie,

Welcome to the site...hope you find it useful. Place is full of very knowledgable people and a couple that seem to have escaped from the nut house.

Just FYI typing in all CAPS on a forum is generally considered to be shouting...so it is not a great idea. Just thought I would tell you in case you did not know.

Do not forget to upload some pic to your personal gallery here at IMOC

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/album_upload.php?cat_id=0

And then add a pic to your profile.

Regards

Welcome to IMOC ... good choice of car ;)

They're probably right about the dizzy cap and rotor arm - they do need replacing on NAs as well as Turbos and can cause the car to run badly ..

lesson learnt i think but things i didn't look at when making initial purchase.. probably just deserts as i only gave the previous owner £1500.

Well you get what you pay for ... there are lots of cars advertised here for sale at higher prices than your average MR2 in the paper - but by buying one from an entheusiast you'll know that the car should be fully sorted.
