TOC- IMOC joint event @ Bruntingthorpe- T'day and meet

Post by Lauren »

Hi All,

TOC (Toyota Owners Club) have organised a trackday which they have invited us to attend. There are 60 places available divided between 5 clubs so we have 15 places available for IMOC members. We are the only MR2 club in attendance. Also this event is a bit nearer the southerners so i hope it will go some way to addressing the 'northern bias' of our current trackdays.

Because there is a lot of room at Brunty, I think we could turn this into a bit of a meet for those not going on track.

The venue is Bruntingthorpe and the date is the 1st of may, admission is from 8.30am with those signed up for to begin the signing on process at 9am. Sighting laps are at 9.45am with the open pit lane event starting at 10am till lunch at 12.15pm, restart is at 1pm till the finish at 4.30pm. The cost for the track time is £99 per car and includes admission, second drivers and passengers but passengers will have to provide their own helmets and their are 20 helmets for the drivers to share but bringing your own is recommended.

Specators admission is charged at £5 per car and each of the 6 clubs will be parked in their own area, also trade stands are allowed so can you contact your site sponsors to see if they want to attend, a cost of £40 per trade stand is made purely to cover the cost of addisional toilet's.

Payments can be made via:

http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/news/pu ... rack.shtml

Please PM me to let me know you have booked as i need to keep an eye on numbers.

All profit from the gate will be placed in a separate bank account for the deposit for next years event which will enable us to have 135 cars out on track with parking for 4,500 cars and I have asked for a 1/4mile for next year.

The other clubs in attendance are; TIF, LOC, TOC and MKiv supranet so there will be a good variety of cars on track. I would say that most will be relatively inexperienced so it will be a good day for newbies.

Now onto the bit of a dilemma, I had originally envisioned the IMOC trackday to take place in May, but i am worried about it clashing with this event. I've been chatting to the other admins and we wonder whether it'd be best to move our own trackday to the autumn. Please let us know your comments on this.

Yeah, move ours later in the year - it would be a shame to miss this :)

Yep thats what i thought, i wouldn't want to dilute number for our own day and i think its good to forge links with other clubs too.

what i might do is name a day that i'm driving on, probably angersea in May (when i'm not working) and if anyone wants to come up for the social we can maybe get a few other MR2s on track for those that can't wait till later in year. We may have enough to run in our own session.

I'm up for doing this TOC day - but I certainly do fancy doing some trackdays in the Mk1 as well either side of the May date ..

Buntingthrope is a good novice circuit - I did it at MR2004 last year.

There's one corner you can take at 105-110 with a big four wheel drift which takes a fair bit of confidence- you have to remember to get hard on the brakes for the following right hander otherwise you end up coming off the blackstuff through the twisties.

Its a concrete surface so it won't be that kind to tyres ...

Sounds Great......

Only about 15 minutes from where I live and it'd be good to put some faces to names on here..!!

Think i'll be just spectating as my baby isn't exactly ready for the track but i'll be bringing my lid to hopefully catch a ride with one of you seasoned pros

See Ya There.

Just an update on a few things for you all, firstly Toyota GB are providing a hospitality trailer for the drivers to take a break in and hopefully it will be the one with the free tea & coffee plus the TV screen in :D

Also this event now has a sponsor in the form of Prolex-UK which is mainly a Lexus tuning company but will be branching out to other Toyota marques soon.

We have a few trade stands confirmed up to now and if you want them to bring along anything you have ordered from them then i'm sure they will be more than happy to do so, also if you are interested in having a trade stand then feel free to pm me  . The trade stands are-

www.prolex-uk.com
www.roguesystems.co.uk
www.global-grafix.co.uk

Catering has been arranged for 180 people but if those that are specatating can carry on letting us know you are coming then that would be a big help as their is nothing worse than running out of fodder.

I'll be there. I've signed up on the site, but haven't paid yet -

Ken : Literally do you want us to just click on the Paypal link on this page :

http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/news/pu ... rack.shtml

And you'll work out which ForumID has paid you ?

The process and linkage between booking a place and paying for it just didn't seem to be linked up and I didn't want to be paying £99 for the wrong thing!
