idling issues - sign of uprated cams?

Post by adamshaw »

If revs start to drop and fluctauat between 1k rpm and 500rpm.

Idle speed control valve changed but still happends, usual HT leads, plugs etc also changed.

Whats this a sign off? Could it be uprated cams?

Will i see any problems? None yet in 15mths?

It sounds to me like it has aftermarket cams on, as long as it doesn't stall I'm sure it's fine mate.

could also be caused by old/blocked air filter, blocked fuel filter, dodgy coolant temperature sensor, vacuum leak in the intake system or worn distributer cap and im sure their not the only ones.

If you are still having problems and you've checked all the hoses, i'd also try replacing the distributor cap and rotor arm.

Power comes on at about 2600 RPM and can hit max boost just before 4k rpm.

Running ct26 hybrid with T3/4 internals and 52mm compressor wheel. Pulls very good to be honest at 14PSI.

If i put my foot down in first to say 4k rpm and then bang it into second and i virtually on instant boost straight away

Any ideas
