Ltd Edition Mk1?

Post by Soupasam »

Hey just found this on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-MR2-MK1-AW ... dZViewItem

Was wondering if it actually a special edition of anykind. The seller says its got special headrests and dimmable instrement cluster. Was this ever available in the uk?

The dimmable instruments are in all 88 and 89 cars, not seen those headrests though

Those headrest are the standard headrests from the original leather seats.

Pretty sure no limited editions of any kind were made for UK market - a few existed for JDM; white lanner, plus the obvious SE supercarger model.

There is nothing limited edition about that car!! Standard headrests and controls.

The only limited edition MK1s I really know of are the Super Edition Superchargers (either a midnighty blue or white over gold).

Though the Sherwood Toning is apparently fairly limited. :-k

So good you said it twice

To answer you they are not common, but I don't think they were a limited edition?

Nice colour though - I know of two others in the UK than yours (hardtop owned by Mike and Viv, and an auto t-bar in bedfordshire somewhere - though thinking about it that could be you?)

That is an extremely rare colour scheme for the SC. There was one at Billing about two years ago owned by some Welsh lad and lady. He had converted it from Auto too Manual - I saw him at Billing last year and he had a Mk2T now - so not sure where the car is??

Toni, mike and Vivs is the Gun Metal variant - not the "two tone" as these pics.

Just had a peek at your garage - thats a great colour combo, better tha sherwood toning IMO. One question though, the silver colour cuts through the arches - should it do that, I ask as most duo-tone colours tend to have the lower colours following the contours of the arches??

It's a factory paintsceme, was available on the '88 and '89 models only. Both N/A as SC.

It not a very common colour, but it isn't limited or such. Neighter is the Sherwood though (in reply to a page 1 post)

What does that triangle thing say on the headrest? I'm not entirely sure my leather headrests have that, It could well be my memory though
