It's a sad sad day in my life

Post by sp30's galore »

I have finally given in, I am selling my MR2

Need something a bit more practical and something i can leave in town, drive around london in or just abandon at the train station without worrying about it being hit, abused or stolen. :(

So it will shortly be gone, and gonna be replaced by a Pug 306 S16  which aren't really that bad and mean i might actually get to drive round the corner lanes where i live without worrying about all the bends and twists when it rains!!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the advice and help over the last few months, especially Skywalker, cheers Luke (you can have whatever bits you want off my car before i find a buyer) :D

Can i still chip in with the odd comment and stay as a member without the MR2????

Might come back to haunt you all soon, can i make the S16 as quick as my MR2 Turbo?? :? will give it a shot within time!!!

Sorry to hear your situation. I've been there too, so know what it's like, but stayed with IMOC as I liked the MR2 so much. When things improved, I bought myself another tubby for a weekend car (but that's another story :D ). You might find yourself in a similar situation quicker than you think!

I just moved here from the 205 GTi scene and you lot are now coming back, im worried. :? Hope i made the right choice!

Had my 205 for a while also, many many problems but great when it worked, 306 S16 great cars even the 306 TD's are good for work horses and are quite quick.

Anyways hope you change your mind and reassure me that everything will be ok, lol!

Thanks

Drove an S16 the other day wasn't impressed at all. Why not a GT4 instead?

I wouldn't worry too much Ross, the 2 like any car if well looked after will be perfectly reliable and ought not to cause you too many problems. Toyota do tend to over engineer stuff which is generally good news. You have to remember though that your car is 13years old now (mine is 19!), so a bit of preventative maintenance can go a long way to help reliability.

I think generally they are very well put together cars.

Thats reasuring, thanks Lauren!

S16's are good cars, pretty much the same as the GTI6, although an older version, not easy cars to tune up though!

I learnt this from having my 205 gti for 3 years, exhausts, filters etc didnt improve performance just made the car easier to maintain!

Your best bet is to get a 306 1.9TD if you just want a workhorse, it still is quite quick though

It would not be easy mate, hmm nitrous would be the easiest way or fit a 406 3litre V6 engine in it and then put nitrous on it!
