Having a rev 4 I do know about this restriction, but was just wondering if you knew where the EGR was, and if it is easy to remove? I'm intending on getting a custom exhaust but presume this valve is up near the manifold, and so I wouldn't be able to get rid of it when replacing the exhaust?

Cheers

Sorry mate, totally overlooked this thread !

Okay... form the passenger side, the EGR valve is the valve looking thing to the left of the throttle body, if you trace the pipework, it comes from the head, the exhaust side, then goes through the egr valve to the throttle body / intake manifold.

Ideally need to disconnect this from the intake, stick a blanking plate over the top of it and also block the other end of it off too coming from the head. Easier said than done though on the NA's.

Its possible to simply cut the pipe from the head and crimp it.

hehehe Pete J...

i had a run in with a certain 1990 nissan ZX200, a white one that was at the Box Hill meet... saw him off the purley way and had a chat....

he asked me a few questions about my 2 and he told me his missan turbo was 260BHP estimated.

ok, cool i said - about to dive off, nissan driver said, "you know the mad mile?" ... "No" i said....

little while later i found out that nissan man who offered me the challenge(who was really trying) was not doing too well...

The thing is guys .. if you can use youre gears well ...you will do well..

i was holding each gear to 7000. nissan man didnt know how to use his..

was about to overtake on the inside. (i never undertake) but the roundabout to kingston came up... LOL i took him on breaking well, even managed a thumbs up heheh....

(probably why i need a new engine) ...

JJ i got £1k now. I need another £1.5 then im booking m8... so give me a few months... :D

No way unless your running gas!

140 lb/ft of torque yes, but 170lb/ft needs gas or forced induction.

Blimey, thanks for all the advice and info guys. I've been away for a couple of days and am quite surprised at the amount of response and discussions, but that's what makes IMOC so good IMHO. I didn't realise the early cars compared so favourably to the later ones, so much for progress!!!! Cams and ECUs sound like expensive upgrades so I'll have to take a look at prices, I know about Fensport, anywhere else worth looking at?

Thanks again for everyone's input :D

I really wouldn't bother trying to use rev 3+ tech to mod your car. It's just as fast, if not faster. And it can steer sharper (if you can control that back end).

I don't understand why there seem to be so many mentions of the back end needing controlling, mine has never been a cause for concern and being a rev1 runs 205 section rear tyres unlike the later cars on 225s. Having said that I have just changed to rev2/3 wheels and they have 225/50 Nankangs on the rear and 195/50 Barum fronts, both V rated. On my 14 inchers I had Bridgestone V rated rears and Avon ZV1 H rated fronts. The Barums are definitely better than the Avons and time will tell how the Nankangs compare. I have read about tyres on here but the wheels came with these tyres fitted, and they're almost new so I'll give them a try. I've done 120ish miles on them so far without drama, but it has been all dry running so I have yet to find out what they're like in the wet.
