Where can a get a manual for the 3SGE?

Post by Davey001 »

I've got to to my head gasket as its leaking oil  , and i've got the American 1991 CD manual that everyone has, but it only covers the 3SFE and 3SGTE, and its certainly no haynes manual anyway...Is there an equivalent for the 3SGE - or a simple step-by-step for the H/G. Any help muchos appreciated on this one.

Hi Davey,

Ithink my manual covers the 3S-Ge (or at least I hope so as I have one too). Will have a look later on.

True, but it won't be the 2000 page service one. Also, they'd probably charge £70+ VAT as that seems to be the standard cost of minor parts!
Anyway, I won't send a copy as it's illegal

Is it the CD you have Paul? If it is then it won't cover it.

I have the 3S-GE stuff in book form and also photocopied ready for scanning, what I lack is the time and desire to do it :)

Folks, remeber the BGB is copyright material of Toyota, and it would be illegal to duplicate it.

Discussion of illegal activities (eg distribution of copyright material) isn't condoned or permitted here.

It is the CD Michael, does that only cover FE and GTE engines? Can't say I've checked to be honest as the engine is about the only thing to not have gone wrong with my car (yet).

How's about trying to find a manual for other 3S-GE engined cars?

I believe the Celica (and maybe Corolla) had it, and it was even put in the mighty Carina.

As these cars are more popular, theres more chance Haynes will have done a manual. My local library has shelves of Haynes manuals, so I'd suggest popping down there and having a flick through and see if anything looks relevant in the engine section.

It won't cost you anything either! (well, except for the huge Council Tax bill that's about to land on your doorstep)

Cheers Muchly. I'm in two minds what to do with it really. I know people who've done other h/g's on the 3sge, and they all say they'd never do another one! Hateful job apparently. I want a turbo lump too, but my engine is otherwise fine, and just cant justify the expense of buying a (Rev3) turbo lump, and then paying someone to fit it AND having to get brakes/shocks etc, might as well buy a turbo - much less hassle and cheaper. So yes, i'll gladly give you what you want for the manual - that would be most helpful. I'm in Stratford On Avon by the way...
