I'm pretty sure that i read somewhere that around the 60k mark the P1's engines go kapoot.

Is that right?

from several of my friends experiences, i'd agree.

.

.

my mate recently bought a slightly modded P1 which was never RR'd but guesstimated to be sitting around 340bhp minimum with FMIC, Dastek Unichip, De-catted exhaust, induction kit, uprated fuel pump, slightly upped boost

(maybe a little more but i cant remember exactly).

Anyway, he recently bought the P1 with 66k miles, FSSH and he knew the owner, who'd driven it like a sunday driver from new.

my mate drove it hard, always letting it warm up and down, and within 2 weeks, he'd chucked a conrod through the block.

after a trip to see duncan at hypertech,

(who im sure rikki and most other scots on here will be familiar with) and

£3000 later, he was sitting with a 2.5 out of the new impreza sti, so he broke that in properly for 1500 miles just to be safe and 6 weeks later, that also went bang!! so now hes fitting another engine and punting it as he understandly has lost total faith

My best mate jon also owned an import 1998 impreza sti which was sitting around 320bhp and he blew an engine in that after around 2-3 months of ownership, greer motorsport fitted him a new engine and a few months later his dashboard looked like blackpool illuminations

so that was shipped on and replaced by the more refined evo 6, which is a different class to the impreza

i wouldnt touch an impreza, fun as they are but thats my opinion, i'll keep my 2 anyday
