My engine Bay - New bling!

Post by Dale_V »

Over the past few weeks i've been spraying a few bits up while doing a little engine work. The cam cover was leaking so while it was off I resprayed the inlet manifold and accelerator cable brackets etc...

I also needed to take the exhaust manifold off, so I put the heatshield on the buffer, and finally i've just added a x brace that Ive resprayed in 202 astral black

Enjoy! =P~

Thanks everyone

Goldy, dont be lazy

Missy, A good place to start is just to de grease and clean all the dirt off thoroughly, don't see it as 1 big picture , do small areas at a time and make sure you clean all the crap off well.

Once you've got everything clean it will still look dull, so just unbolt random parts and spray them up. every little helps so just do a bit at a time :D

 awww

well first you gotta get ALL the dirt off so then it will give you a good base to start painting random suff

The manifold has been sprayed with brake caliper paint from halfords, so thats how thats shiney  , all the hoses etc have just been wiped over with Autoglym rubber care, and the rests basically the same  paint and polish random bits.

If you were closer id help you out :(

Looks good Dale, CleanyMcClean there..

Seems to be missing something, though.. hmm.. what is it.. hmm.. oh yeah, a turbo! ;) (c'mon, someone had to say it...)

Seriously - very clean. Are the blue bits actually sprayed to match the car, or did they come that colour? The pics make them look a perfect match - which is very nice indeed :)

LOL, just take your time and you'll be fine, remember if you're washing the engine to avoid getting the electrics wet and you'll be right :D

Missy - places can do you bling for a price.
I got this done with 3s but I think Rogue do it too.

You can clean all you like but it'll never look overly impressive IMO.

I cleaned mine hundreds of times, then used some Halfords engine paint and STILL it came out rubbish so I paid some one 8)

Very nice mate!

How did you go about doing the lettering, or is it just the original stuff scrubbed up?

WOW

I'm impressed Dale, especially as thats all your own work.

Along the lines of what missy asked i know but......

How did you do that engine, (the bottom half really) i mean was it a case of covering all the electrical bits in sandwich bags and lobbing hot soapy water at it or did you go a bit more delicate and use gunk / muck off and a brush and then rinse it ?

Also where did you do it ? on your drive (if you have one) or at some business premisis? Only I really dont want the residue all over my drive

Sorry for the Qs but I am inspired just to get mine clean now

Hi Paul, I used a pressure washer, sucking up jizer then adgetated it with a brush, then kept doing that process to get it clean. So it was a mixture of heavy and delicate

I did all the work on my driveway, and it didnt make a mess to the block paving, as long as you dont let the dirt settle and wash it away then i doubt there would be any problems

Cheers :D
