Before Crash, After Crash, Now

Post by Scotster »

Ok guys thought i would post up a bit of history with my car. Here is what she used to look like...

Then after being a bit heavy on the right foot round a damp bend and lifting off it then looked like this....

After being screwed around by a company regarding my bumper (i waited 10 weeks) i gave the bumper to a friend at work. At first i didn't want to ask him as repairing it was a mammoth task but he took it on and here is how its progressing so far. Now, i have to say he rebuilt this bumper without even so much as my car to line it up against. He truely did a cracking job.

The first few pics were when we first tried it on friday. I was busy sanding today getting most of the lines right. Now all i have to worry about is shaping the corner where the light cover goes to the right shape. Shouldn't be too much involved before the fitting can begin.

While i was buying parts to fix my car i decided to pick up a few niceties as well such as a dvd changer, monitor, a short shifter and some racing seats. Trouble with the seats was the came with universal mounts which are absolutely nothing like the MR2 mounts. I didn't want to butcher the MR2 ones so i decided to go to work on the Universal ones. Here is what happened.

The short shifter i bought is this one (one on the right of the top pic)

I just this minute fitted my monitor... yay!

As you can see its starting to take shape so i just need to secure the bumper, give it a final sand along with the rear and get it all painted. Planning to get both seats installed and mounted at the weekend. You can see the passenger one is there but there aint no mounts on it lol.

If you lasted this long thanks for viewing ;)

Quite a bit mate. I had the rev 2 already shortened TRD shifter which comes standard after Rev2's but this one is even shorter. Makes changing gear a little harder but nothing that would cause complications. You feel a solid click also when changing gear and because you are using that extra force to change its very difficult to miss so it may even shave quite a bit off of your 60.

Fleebay, guy called tarmaceater. Sells them all the time.

There are 2 guys that sell them, the one i got was a bit more expensive but i prefered the gearknob. Only problem is they are not perfectly made and require a slight adjustment using either an angle grinder or a buff wheel.

If you get one let me know and i'll give you sizes etc, i'm going to do mine pretty soon. Its just adjusting the way point for the shifter cable. There is a cutout made for it but its just a few mm high.
