Air / Fuel Ratio Meters???

Post by splintermcinnes »

hi guys, just read an old thread on the SAFC 2, and JJ was saying that his turbo timer incorporates a A/F meter, says they're dead handy, just wondering how easy they are to install, i have a boost guage on the a pillar, i could always get a bigger pod and add another guage!!

just want to know how to do it first, once thats in i will finaly get round to installing the SAFC and have it all set up on the RR - boost controller included, ive given up trying to sort it out!!!

Those A/F Displays in Turbo Timers and so on just display the signal of your narrow band o2 sensor so they are totally useless for tuning of the car.

If you want to know whats going on you need an wideband o2 gauge from AEM, Innovate, PLX and so on.

not sure he's after using it for tuning the car, as that'll be done on RR.

it's just a handy little extra that can show any irregularities that may happen over time. it's nothing you need to have, but it'd so no harm if you get me.

i'm still tempted with one of them old skool Lumenition ones that all the cossie boys used to fit into one of their air vents! \:D/

I just got innovate wideband XD16 kit - cost £285 or so (it doesn't sound as bad if you say it fast) - sensor, wiring and a 52mm gauge. Wideband sensor goes into bunged hole in aussie downpipe, wiring gets ran through to pillar pod, gauge displays info (is the plan - not installed yet).

Just found this site a few weeks ago... Uk company selling a full side band kit for £175 + vat. Can also be connected to a EGT sensor so you can monitor both from the one gauge. Also has data logging functions.
