NorthEast Lakes Run - JUNE 2006

Post by gtech »

The intention is to repeat the Lake District run from the North East down to the lakes, sometime in JUNE. Not sorted the route yet but will make a recce to find something interesting and to find a nice spot for lunch....Maybe email the Ruby club :-) ....

Dates not confirmed yet, this depends on who is available and when. So what I thought is that we could start a list off now of interested parties, when you add your name, if you are NOT available for either of the LAST 2 weekends in JUNE 06, could you indicate so and we will try and accomodate your dates.

Once we have an idea of numbers, we will then announce the route, BBQ Point, and anything else interesting we can throw in.

By all means members from other areas are welcome to meet up and join us........ (Copy the list, add your name...etc etc)

18th sounds good to me, if the cars problems are sorted and she decides not to fry herself between now and then then you can count me in. was gutted at missing the Keilder run!! :(

the new TRD thermostat should arrive tommorow, so hopefully that should sort it!! :D

Change of heart. I'm not gonna track it until I've the Apexi fitted. Buying it next month and a trip to Thor in July. So plan it for any weekend, we'll make it.

If you are driving from the north east to the lakes then you just have to take the A686 (off the A69 just outside Haydon Bridge to the east). It will take you to Penrith, over some of the best driving roads you'll ever see.

This road is often featured on Top Gear and Fifth Gear.

First half of it is a little too twisty and not particularly scenic, but the second half of it is awesome - I especially enjoyed locking the front wheels of my 306 in fog when the road suddenly turned into a hairpin

Why not? Two start points culminating in Ambleside rugby club, providing the convoys are big enough of course. To me, being in the convoy is the fun part. You all take the wrong turning doing a 5 point turn in the silliest of locations (dont we Jay and Graeme), revving the car to get away rapidly and remove the situation of embarrasment only to realise in doing so you have attracted more attention than desired (Stu). All getting pulled over by a young cop who is envious of your cars and has only pulled you over to find out how he can become a member of your club and own one of these amazing cars (us lot going to Scarborough). This is what these days are about. Being a club member and enjoying the day with other members. Sitting down at the end of the day and having a good laugh and banter about the exploits of the day. Sharing those pockets of time......RIGHT THATS ENOUGH OF THAT (he says in his best Monty Python voice).

You are right about the A686, thats why I go from Hexham on the B6305 and join up with the A686 in the 2nd half.

Im up for it, and maybe those from Darlo/Bishop etc would like to join us on that route, but at the end of the day I am all for the group outing rather than the minority doing that route. Take a vote.
