Insuring a turbo conversion

as above really... do you just insure as a Turbo or do you tell them it's a UK car converted..

opinions please / hard facts if you have them ! :D

Mine is reinsured as:

I told the truth and the ONLY company that would cover me was adrian flux.

The moment I said UK car with import engine it was a case of sorry we cannot provide cover for vechicles with not original engines, as specified as standard from the manufacture for the UK market.

I'd say if you stuff it and need a claim when they take it away they will check the chassis number and read UK GTi-16, it'll be here where they tell you that the cars is not as described so fix it yourself.

I told my insurance company that it was a UK car with a turbo engine and they still reinsured as a GT Turbo

My MKIII turbo conversion is insured through Brentacre.

Get them to do a hunter stiles check!!! #-o

Seriously tho, bear in mind, if you do have an accident, the insurer, especially adrian flux will try to screw you as much as possible. There, if your car is a uk converted turbo, it should in therory be listed as a uk car with engine mods etc, not a gt turbo.
