error code 51

Post by darkmagi »

I had a running problem with my car this morning, I think it was because of 2 days worth of rain getting into the engine compartment, The car ran like a bag of bolts for the first 10 mins, ( I had this problem about a month ago when it was wet, It was a faulty HT lead ) anyway when i got to work i tested for error codes & got none so i started the car up but forgot to take out the bit of wire in the port & notice that when i pressed the accelerator pedal i got a error code 51 when the revs went back down the code went away, I thought it may have something to to with the fact that the timimg advance is switched off when the points are crossed in diagonostic port, Could someone let me know if this is correct or do i have a problem, I think code 51 is something to do with the throttle positioning sensor.

Thanks in advance.......... :)

If no one has seen this problem it would be very helpfull if anyone is out working on the engine could you check & see if you get a error code 51 if you put a wire in the diagnostic port & rev the engine just to see if the code comes up then goes away, If several people get the same code then i would think that it would not be a fault.

Cheers............... :D

I would suggest you remove the link and drive the car..if there is a fault still registered in the ECU then the engine light will come on and you can then check again properly. If no fault is registered then dont worry about it.
