Actually, it was TTC - Toyota TechnoCraft - that carried out the conversion, although they are technically a sub-division of TRD.

Tom at NVI currently has one of these for sale at the moment. I wonder if you can guess the colour...

I think they were all silver(IIRC only 92 made) and auto only when they left the factory.

My Spider has been converted to manual and had a full respray in black(done by previous owner)including bits you can't see.

here's a thought - Patrick how much effort would it be to make a Hardtop up for one of these Spiders ?

I could seriously consider selling up if it was turbo'd, Toms skirted and came with a hardtop.

I'm asking a lot arent i ! :-k

I'm sure they weren't badged as Toyotas/ MR2's though because the firm didn't want any association with the Spyder due the the unsolved roof leak problems they encountered. :?

That's a very good question... I'll have a word with Russ at RMG and see what he can come up with!

Nope! I've seen Spyders in Super Red III and Mica Orange in factory trim, and also with manual gearboxes.

They were all normally aspirated though, and the base car used was the tin-top, not the T-bar.

Human wrote:The "Spyder" was not made directly by Toyota. It was a conversion manufactured in limited amounts by another company. I know this because I read it in an MR2 history book that is sitting in Rogue Systems waiting room...in fact there are two that both quoted the same fact. Unfortunately I can't remember who the party was. If anyone is going to Rogue....have a look. Could have been TRD?
