[Mk2 Generic] Pheonix's Power Headlights...

Post by 3SGE »

I've looked around for lights for a long time. I've seen all the flush-mount kits, from the professional to the DIY. I know what I want, and it looks like this:

http://www.phoenixs.co.jp/bigsite/body/ ... amper.html

However, I would like just the lights, without the Pheonix's Power bumper. It looks like you would need to cut into the standard bumper to get them to fit. Anyone know anyone who's had any experience with this kit?

Also, where can I get them, my Japanese is poo. I've thought about giving Newera a ring and see if they can pick one up, but a UK supplier would be awesome, or someone who has a pair and wants to sell 'em. :-)

P.S.

I think the Japanese site mentions that the lights use the original Toyota beam units, which luckily I've kept, making this a very practical and cost-effective kit. Kit's like Rogues are a bit more expensive due to the Hella lamps.

Bud, you got no chance!!

The phoenix kit moves the lights about 3 " forward and about 4" down so the light sits lower and further forward than standard.. If they were to sit in the standard position it would sit way too high and look silly.. Im in the midst of doing the conversion now and it takes a bit of modification to make it sit correctly.. In the end i have used ST185 headlight pop-up pods to sit my lights in as they are slightly smaller and sit more flushly in the light pod.

Hope this helps! :)

correct the spl phoenix power light kit can only work in conjunction
with the spl bumper.(the lights fit in to the bumper itself as a single unit)

so to have the lights you have to have the bumper 2.

love this kit.

but then one needs skirts and rear finish as the front is so full on. :P

Cheers guys. :-)

Thought that would be the case. I do like the whole kit. So I think I'll start saving. :-) In fact, the only other front-end I like is the Do-Luck kit, the bumper with the pointy brow. I guess I'm kinda fussy, don't just wanna stick a border-style lump on like everyone else. And Veilside can suck my balls! :-)

I love my pop up lights!

Seriously wouldn't change em for anything!

Am I the only one on here that thinks that?

It is a major part of the appeal of an MR2, but done tastefully i quite like some of the flush kits around.

Yeah, theres a reason no one makes cars with pop ups anymore, cost and weight.........

(and just weight in the case of the NSX...)

Great minds eh....

The reason you don't see pop ups anymore is for pedestrian safety.

They were causing a lot of injuries so were effectively banned.

i would only change my standard popups for rev6 as i thinks they look great.
but i do like some of the conversions, just prefer the clean lines of the car during the day with no light in sight.
