Rory.. have you got a webcam over my desk or summin ?

they just called like 2 mins ago !.... what we need is the activity day - costs have gone up as of apr 1st  ..

but for 20 people it will be £40 for the full day
(we have one area and we have high speed bends training, and a further cone course)

I'll be putting a proper thread up when Emma sends me the details in writing so i have something to cut and paste :eye:

what time of year you thinking rory ? September ?
we need to make sure we don;t clash with other events like JAE TOTB etc etc for good numbers and good people

cheers
Frank.

:D £40 is fine i think for a whole day. With only 20 cars there will be more than enough driving time for everyone to have a good time. September sounds good. Ive found a local mobile tyre fitter who will come out to the airfield and change tyres for people for £5 per tyre at the end of the day. Most people didnt wreck their tyres like me but I had good fun doing it!

Rory - some nicely controlled drifts there :thumleft:

Frank - a day like this sounds good, we've also been planning options for the next IMOC 'track' day, possibly an advanced one.

I'll point Lauren in your direction if I may to see what we can co-ordinate - we've been talking to other MR2 clubs about potential events.

Just my 2p : I'd take a helmet to a day like that. You just need a big slide broadside on to some boggy ground and you end up shiny side down. Should be almost impossible to do achieve, especially if when you're driving you note where you can/ can't push but for the sake of £50 or so its not worth risking it.

It then means you've setup for 'proper' trackdays too.

One last thought - historically, we've done a skidpan wet handling course, then airfield trackday - this kind of event may fit between the two?

Ben - Your not allowed to wear a helmet. I think it invalidates their insurance because its not classed as a trackday/race. Its a driver tuition day. I was attempting the high speed bends etc a lot faster than any one else on the day and didnt come any where near the grass.

Also is there any chance that IMOC can host the 2 videos on this thread for me because my friend who is hosting them has very limited bandwith. Ive tried putting them onto putfile but the quality is greatly reduced. I think they are about 10mb each.

Hmm, OK - I'm very surprised that their Public Liability insurnance doesn't require them to enforce the wearing of helmets in order to reduce their risk ..

Sure - I'll grab them later on this evening and can host them here for a few months - I'll let you know the URL.

Thanks Ben.

Thinking about it I think ive misunderstood their statement on helmets and insurance. I think he may have meant that wearing a helmet on the roads may invalidate you insurance and because the roads on the airfield are classed as normal roads perhaps if you hit someone and told them you was wearing a helmet they wouldnt pay out. :?:

Frank, we can make this an IMOC day if you like. Let me know and i'll get the publicity machine working. What i need is a solid cost per person, what the day will entail, the format etc. If you want you could write a post with all the details and i can sticky it up in the general section etc.. I'll help you with it where i can.

I think it sounds like a really good idea tbh as there is a lot to be had from tuition. Good stuff on what you've done so far.
