New forum moderation guidelines??!

Post by Goldy »

Having read :
http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36659

Since I can't respond to it i've posted here. This is a suggestion, please read it through.

I don't think that having the moderators trimming threads is the right way to go about things. For one it will annoy a lot of people, and its a hell of a lot of work for the poor moderation team!!

I've got a sensible suggestion to reduce the problem of banter in technical threads. The way I see the forum at the moment, is that there is no distinction between the technical and banter sections. General MR2 discussion covers a wide range of subjects, and hence technical stuff gets diluted down.

Maybe creating a new section of the forum called "banter" and putting the general mr2 and off topic boards in there would help.

I think this may help to aleviate the "problem"

Feel free to tell me to shut up now :eye:

I personally think that the general thread should be allowed to have banter in it. as it is a general thread. (obiously banter about mr2's). Yes the techical thread and the modification thread should be in a seperate forum section.

I'm worried that if you moderate this site to much it will become boring..

It is hard getting the balance on forums like this. The occasional good technical thread is ruined by 'tennis' posts between two people humourously slagging each other off: "You're bald" - "You're gay" - "Yeah? Well you're bald AND gay" etc etc etc....which detracts from the original subject.
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!
