ive had 15/16/17s, so i can see where your coming from.
i hated the 15s.......

theres no reason why you cant fit 16s on a ferrari kitted mr2. offset/ride height set up properly would look ok. if your putting ferrari style wheels on there as well, your only doing it for one reason, for people to think you drive a ferrari.....
if its just a bodykit, why not fit a spoiler, t-bar and some deep jap rims (and no ferrari badges)....
sure, top marks for doing a project like this, i just dont agree with the kit in question. thats all.

big respect from me for tryin somethin different mate. if youve got the dosh, the best way to get the 19s on would be airbag or hydraulic suspension. good luck, i cant wait to see it finished, i reckon it'l look amazin

The reason I started this thread was to ask if anyone else had put 19's on their car. I wasnt asking if people thought it looked good, or if I should do it or not. At the time i started the topic I already had the wheels and had already done the trial fit.

I was concerned about the physical fitting of the wheels and if my idea for moving the base of the spring seat was a reasonable one.

I appreciate the comments about the ride and tramlining etc & find it interesting to see others opinion about the looks, but they are not going to stop me putting the wheels on.

I have been in the kit car game for quite a while now & am used to peoples comments about the replicas. As I said I am fitting an Extreme kit not a dodgy back street looky likey kit. These do look good & the only reason people question the car is because most ferrari owners dont tend to use their car to go to tescos like i do.

I know im going to offend now, but I cringe when i see cars with HUUUGe spoilers and daft wing extensions or flashy screen washers or poorly fitted kits. Its these that a REAL mr2 driver will laugh at.
Take a look at the extreme finished cars in the flesh. If someone hadnt already told you about these kits being available can you honestly say that you would question the car??

I have been flashed & nodded at by real ferrari drivers whilst out in my 308. Not one has laughed. In fact I stopped at a ferrari owners meeting at a hotel near where I live & they were all very interested & I had a lot of questions about how I had done it.

If you see no reason for this thread then fair enough close it down, I have got the info I need, but like I said I appreciate others opinions. I thought this area was for general discussion & which I believe is what this is?

exactly, general discussion. peeps are aloud there opinions.
an extreme kit is still a copy what ever way you look at it.......there are plenty of really crappy ferrari kits, and no dout these extreme ones are great, but obviously if you want perfection, you want it to look exactly like a 355, hense you want to fool everyone, this is what i dont get.
your not wrong, led washers, massive wings get laughed at for sure, no denying that.
kit cars are great, and im amazed at how there done, but pretending a car is something its not is were i feel it crosses the line.
i know your not gona stop, and why should you, your car after all, it probably will look well done and fool most people.

i just ment a t-bar car, as aprently no 355s wernt t-bar i believe, could be wrong tho.

i know this ones a TRD, but you get the idea. and those are only 18s i reckon, unless someone knows for sure they're not. i know those rims do come in 19 inch flavour (ps thanx TRDMR2!). but if you're gonna go for a true ferrari thing then i guess you'll wanna go for ferrari style rims.

That's from up my end, it has 19's Rear and 18's front. I think it looks gorgeous. So I bought 20's for the rear and 19's for the front on my TRD.

Fit what ever you like in terms of size, dont listen to people saying you can only have 17's etc.

If YOU like it then do it at the end of the day.

As previously discussed most people dont push there car hard enough to find the limits any way!

bloody hell, altho i think you can get away with that with the trd kit if the rims look right.

The 20's went on the back, standard suspension, no problem. 19's on the front would of been a pain on the standard jobbies (cut/weld cup... big hammer) so coilovers or spacers needed.

Just do it.... the guy who didn't try something did nothing .... i reckon done right it will look ace.
How many of us push the car to its limits on the street? O.K. 15's on the track but for the street....... im going 7x17 front 8.5x18 back when the postal service gets its finger out an finds where they are

looks miles too high as the engine isn't in atm... clearance looks good from the arches, could do with being spaced out a bit i think...
