Mk1 club at Japfest-update. Important info, please read.

Post by spudgun »

This year the club is hoping to have a stand a Japfest, at Castle Combe, on the 20th of May. I could go on about what happens on this great day, but I will give you the link to the website and that will do a far better job of desrcibing it than I ever would.
It costs £8 to get in if you book in advance or £14 on the day. The downside with paying on the day ,also, is that you cannot get any club space by this method.
The problem with this event is club space goes fast, really fast, and if you would like to attend I would like everyones ticket money by the 21st of February. I know that does seem early ,but if it is left any later, the club will not get a stand, and we will be left out in the ordinary car park. If any of you have any questions please get in touch as soon as you can, and I hope to see you there.
Oh yeah, here's that website link

please note that the MK1 club stand is open to all mk1's (as per club policy, but if you are not a member you may get badgered to join  ), but no mk2's - sorry

TICKET PURCHASES

The MK1 club will now be buying the tickets in advance, and you will need to send your cheque (with sae) to Spudgun (steve Hallett) - pm him for address.

£8 pp admission, including your car on the stand
£25 per 15mins track session
(Club helmets are available)

We need to know numbers asap (23rd Feb at latest) as once the booking has been made it cannot be altered. It is likely if we do not get any more entries we will book 15 advance admission tickets and 10 track passes.

add youself to the list by copy and paste, so we can get an idea of numbers:

1. Me (Jo) 1xadmission
2. SystemG 1x admission 2x track
3. Spudgun 1xadmission
4. Peter Scatchard 1xadmission 2xtrack
5. peter's mate 2xadmission
6. peter's mate 1xadmission 2xtrack

Just pm me for more info. Any IMOC MK1 is welcome if you are not going in the convoy / carpark.

I've decided I'm going to give the track a go this year. Got me helmet waiting and everything. There is a couple of others at my end that aren't on any list at the moment. Jeff and Viv Harper are coming along and I will have to make a phone call later in the week to one other. I will update fully then.

I have always wanted to do Castle Coombe track, but have been put off at Japfest in the past due to the amount of accidents. But I figure that it's usually the more powerfull cars getting serious damage and they are usually in a different session. So bring it on \:D/

I will put you on my list Hoagy. All track time has now sold out for Japfest so I think we will shift it if we have any spare.

Just had a count up of who is attending and what there having.

Heres the list as follows:

1. Jo 1xadmission
2. SystemG 1x admission 2x track
3. Spudgun 1xadmission 1x track
4. Peter Scatchard 1xadmission 2xtrack (under certain conditions, will know more soon)
5. Tim Jones and Emiliy Gregory 2xadmission
6. Martin Jeremiah 1xadmission 1xtrack
7. Tony "jinxy" Froude. 2 x admission x BLOWTORCH
8. Crazylegs (Kev) 1 x admission
9. Tim Cartledge 2x admission 1xtrack
10. Tom G 2xadmission 1xtrack
11. Jeff and Viv Harper 2xadmission
12 Paul Charlton 2xadmission.

A few of these have yet to pay, so lets hope nothing goes wrong with that side of things. Right by my calculations that leaves us with 4 entry passes and 4 lots of track time spare.
I would like to hold this open to mk1 owners until the end of the month, but then we will probably sell the remaining items to any interested partys. It will be strictly first come first served and by this I would mean money in the hand as opposed to just putting your name down.
Anyway will have a word with Jo about this to see what she thinks.

If this does happen, heres the list so far.

1. Hoagy 1x track time.

I think that if there are spare tickets then the idea was that we could sell them, but it raises the issue of whether there are going to be MK2's on the stand too.
I realize that this was a mk1-only stand in the beginning...

The track passes can be sold and wont affect anything, the admission passess would just end up people getting in for a discounted price courtesy of the club, but the club stand passes perhaps only given to MK1's perhaps (as per your original plan)?

(ie; MK1's coming on the stand will be given a car stand pass along with however many admission passes they pay for) IYSWIM

phew... waffle over

Ive got a mate who is a mk1 owner, but doent feel his car is up to the journey, can he come as a passenger in my car, or does he need his own entry ticket ? if he needs his own ticket, can you let me know Steve & put one by for him, he can either pay you on the day or i'll sort payment out beforehand, cheers, Jinxy

Your mate will need a ticket, Tony, its £8 per person entry fee, or £14 on the day!

Jo, I think we could sell the admission passes to whoever, but you won't get a club stand pass with it. The track time can go to anyone who fancys it.

Ideally Tony, the best way to do it would for him to send me a cheque made out to "mr2 mk1 club" with a stamped addressed envelope. Ticket price is £8. Send it to

Mr S Hallett
12 Watermead
South Chard
Somerset
TA20 2QN.

What do you reckon?
