Removing Standard exhaust HELP PLEASE!

Post by DaveyC »

Hi,

Im having big problems removing the mid section of the exhaust on my rev3 turbo. I cant get a bracket to clear the ARB and hanger to clear driveshaft.
How is this done, will i need to cut the exhaust off?

Advice appreciated

cheers

Eh? Have you disconnected the pipe from the downpipe and the rear section of the exhaust? Should come right out.

If you mean the arm thingy on the pipe that pushes into the mount on the subframe wont come out, then just unbolt the mount from the subframe- take the lot out, then when its off the car put the mount in a vice, wiggle the pipe back and forth and it should come free itself from the rubber bit no probs. :) HTH

Where abouts in the North East are you ? if your not too far away I could lend you a hand.

Ive changed a few exhausts on all revisions and not had an issue getting the old one off.... more of a problem getting the new one one some times.

Hi Stuart, im assuming its the standard exhaust! , as its quite a small bore and its fully heat shielded all the way from the cat to the rear silencer. Ive taken all the shields off thinking that would give me more clearance but the brackets on it wont let me pull it out from between the subframe and arb. Maybe its tanabe like my silencer as ive never heard of any problems removing the original box before. #-o
