Droplinks

Post by Shmed »

Is this the best price I am going to get for drop links? Also, are turbo droplinks the same as NA?

Basically £100 for all four.

just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

Unfortunately had to cut them off whilst replacing suspension, mad corrosion all around the legs so the bolt heads just rounded off and the hex bit too.

What about these?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 4527468719

Seller says all four come to £112 inc p+p, but they look slightly different (all one piece).

True, I have noted the twosrus price, but am waiting to hear from m mate and David before comitting. No rush as I'm not expecting the new suspension for a week or so.

I don't know if this helps, but in the world of the Mk1 there have been many suggestions on cheap replacements for these links. Early Mazda 626 and Vaux Omega links are pretty much a direct replacement and my supercharger has modified Ford Fiesta ones up front. From what I've gathered there isn't a lot of point putting stiffer links on and the stock ones are pretty light, so my advice would be to take off your worn ones and nip down to a friendly factor's and see if they have anything similar, but cheaper. Also look out for ones that don't have that dopey Toyota allen key arrangement - PITA to get off!

Dude, I made the same mistake as you!! Did you heat them up with a blow torch first? If you didnt then you havent got a chance.

Heat them up and they come off easy!!

Managed to get the bolts to turn, but they were spinning, and the hex head had rounded off. Not a problem though, just hacksawed through them and drilled out the bolts afterwards.

Have ordered new droplinks for £112 inc p+p for the four :)
