Grr Tyres wearing thin on the inside.(245's on an 8inch rim)

Post by Dale_V »

Noticed my Avons have about 1mm on the inside compared to the 3/4mm on the outside of both rear tyres  . They have covered about 13,000 miles so haven't done bad, but whats the problem thats wearing the inside?

Also at the moment I have 225/45/16 on the rear, but would like to go for 245/45/16. First of all will they fit OK?

Second .... I've had a look on http://www.mytyres.co.uk and they have a limited selection (and no AVONS in thats size  ).

so what would be the best option out of these:

- Continental Sport Contact
- Pirelli P-Zero SYSTEM Asimmetrico
- Bridgestone Potenza S02
- Bridgestone Expedia S-01

And third should I stick with my 225's and have a larger choice of tyre (avons) or go for the 245's

too much negative camber is the most likely culprit.

Can anything be adjusted to compensate? :?

edit- 225 Avons are costing £75 each... The cheapest 245 out of the above selection is £115 each......

Twos r us will be selling a camber abjustment kit in the near future as well as being able to provide on loan, a camber adjustment gauge. Peter estimates it'll be in the shop in a few weeks time.

As Lauren said - I'm in the same boat :(

I get about 5000 miles out of my rears by then the insides are down to the wire  with as you say about 3/4mm left on the outside
