sounds like a good'n - if its 6 weeks old it should be absolutely mint, no dirt whatsoever.

Mine is now 4 months old with not a spec in sight, so if yours looks even slightly dirty, it may be a dodgy deal?

Just to say that Dan at DCDezign.com sells new K&Ns for £80ish (includes IMOC discount)

Off the top of my head, I think they recommend cleaning every 1/2 years - I think every 2 years?? I'm just going to keep my eye on mine and probably won't bother cleaning it, I'll just buy a new one when it gets dirty

Think they can have about 2mm thick dirt on them before they start to lose effectiveness. Might be worth checking it out.

What do I take out and what do I leave in??

errrr........ you basically take everything out!!!!! Presuming you're getting the filter and piping, you remove the entire air intake system starting from where its fitted onto the engine section (near the dizzy cap)...... you'll be amased at how much crap you have to take off - piping, filter box, filter, resonator box....... and then all you put on is a pipe and filter!!

If you need a proper 'how to', I can scan one in and email it to you.....

I used K&N filters on my race Mini's for years. Wouldn't have used anything else.

I also use a Blitz (sonic power) on my 2, but I'll be changing to Apixi in a couple of months.

Ok Tickover, I've emailed across the files. They are 4MB in total, if this is a problem let me know and I'll send across lower res ones.

I think that Apexi came top on the filtrations tests. K&N are usually pretty good.

Quite expensive though. I had to get a 7" filter from the states for my supra and just the filter cost 70 quid!!
