Help!!! Locking Wheel nuts!!!!

Can anyone help?

Some thieving git has tried to remove one of my alloys and has completely mashed the locking wheel nut! I can’t use the key to get it off as there is nothing left of the recesses that the pins on the key sit in, it just spins!

Any ideas how I can get the little blighter off? I need to change my drop-links when the new ones arrive!

What sort of locker is it? Is it the 3 pin type or something different?

Its a round base with recesses for four pins and the key has foul elongated studs that fit into it by Grayston?

What state are the holes in?

Stick a pair of long nosed pliers in the holes and grip that set of pliers with another pair and turn. Sometimes works.

There's no recess left its almost completely flat, might try drilling two holes and use your plier trick in a minute see if that works!

Are the pins recessed in the centre of the circle or as part of the outer edge of the circle (if that makes any sense)?

Hi mate this worked for me but I can't remember if the locking nuts were similar to yours.

Get yourself an old socket and a big rubber hammer. Smash the socket onto the locking nut (it's a softer metal hopefully so should be possible) and then use your rachet to remove.

Tyre dealers will charge you £25 to remove each one. Apparently all they do is what I described above.

Worth a go.

The pins are on the outside of the circle on the key this is the best i can knock up for the key, the nut is a reverse of this.

Do you have vice grips and can you get them in there at a lat sideways angle?

Just tried to drill it and cant get the drill bit to bite so dropping it off to the proffesionals, its just gotta come off!! [-o<

as said, smash a smaller socket on the nut, then the socket should dig in allowing you to unscrew it!

I did this a few weeks back and it took me 20 seconds per wheel! scarey tbh, as there was no point in having locking wheel nuts...

The other option, seeing how far gone it is, is to chissel a flat bit in it to be able to undo it with a large flat headed screwdriver. Clutching at straws a bit but maybe worth a go.

Something that i did when i wanted to change wheels and didnt have the key,
get an old flat blade screwdriver, using a hammer, hide faced is better, no sparky sparky bits, use the screwy as a chisel and go in at an angle, and hit the bolt so it turns to undo, leave the other wheel bolts tight so it will come loose quite quickly. Worked for me and looks like you will get a purchase on the nut. hope this helps M

Well I had a crack last night without success, the nut is mashed down to the thread on the hub stud! I think im going to have to spend a bit of time drilling into it off untill it can be pulled apart! Cheers fellas!

Cant they weld another nut on top of it? or is it to far into the wheel now? Only other option there is to drill it out.... will need a new stud though

At least you still got your wheels so look on the bright side Just spend a few quid on a good drill bit and it should have that mother off in no time

When my company car had a similar issue, the garage had to hammer and chisel the socket off. This can be done, makes a lot of noise, which is why theives won't do it.
